to ask if you have a sock thief living in your house?

Ok genuinely can't fathom how every time I do the laundry there are odd socks. I have a row of odd socks dried and in a nice row from the last few laundry loads and am still unable to find their matching socks.

I now have a further 7 - yes 7 odd socks from the laundry I have put on the line.

How is this possible - is there a little person living in my house collecting socks?

Do other people have this problem - do you also have a sock thief? Do you ever recover the missing socks?

Do you accept this admit defeat and just buy new socks?

It's a conundrum, I need reassurance I am not the only person suffering with this recurring sock problem.

I use laundry bags for socks and still lose them.

Once upon a time I was walking to work and saw that the man in front of me had a sock stuck to his jumper by static. Fascinated and exhilarated, I watched this sock peel slowly off his jumper as I mused that it must be tumble-drying or excess spinning that created this static effect and stole socks. The sock fell quietly at the side of the road in a dirty puddle. Thereby answering another question about how random small articles of clothing wind up in the street. Sadly I was so busy thinking about the huge implications of this that I didn't think to tell the man about his sock until he'd rounded the corner onto the busy high street and disappeared; one more black jumper in a sea of dark clothes. I thought of his exasperated sigh on finding one more solo sock. He'll never know I let it die there at the side of the road.

I also found a fork in the bin once and have forever more held the bin as prime suspect for missing cutlery.
