I went for a job interview today. It's for a let tings / sales negotiator. I have 0 experience in the industry. Trying to change careers and hasn't had much luck. I got a call yesterday. Interview today and they have called me when I would be able to stay. I said 2nd week of October and the girl who I spoke to got a wee bit snappy saying the advert said immediate start (btw it did not)
The interview was fine, rushed a bit and didn't get a very professional feel. It's a small, tiny company with 3 star ish reviews on google and Facebook. My gut says no my wallet and my partner says yes. I feel a bit uncomfortable though and I don't actually have an email from them confirming the pay, commission and holidays. When I was on the interview they didn't even check my papers / NI number.

What should I do?

I had a dodgy feeling while I was ther as well. Didn't feel very professional and I just can't explain why I wasn't sure about it

I would go with your gut, but you haven’t even had an offer yet so i wouldn’t worry until you hear more.

Agree with Sparkle, until you hear from them don't worry. If they do offer the position, ask for clarification in writing of the points you mentioned above, before you accept or decline their offer.

Trust your gut.

In my experience if things feel off with a small employer it's because they are. It won't be better once you're an employee under their control and supervision.

Really not worth all the aggro. Chalk it up as interview experience, a confidence boost that you come across well, and an endorsement of your instincts.

Interviews are just as much about you making sure the employer is right for you as the other way around.

Agree with Anouk. If, in the interview, your gut says no, it's a non-starter.

When you are offered a job, you should be 80% excited, 20% a bit scared I reckon - just a bit of normal anxiety about the unknown, nothing more. You shouldn't be trying to trying to define what made you uncomfortable. I've ignored my gut in two interviews and it turned out both times I was right.
