Mine gets itchy if my scalp is damp from washing it or sweaty from exercise for too long. Ensure it's bone dry after washing it. Mine has itched terribly if I've tied my hair up in the shower rather than washed it and it's been damp afterwards, too. Total blunder! I'm not sure if anyone else's scalp problems start with dampness as well?

I tried all sorts with mine.
It's def got a hormonal element to it (both hair and skin)

Tried various shampoos, each for long periods.
Tried to wash it less often for months, and tried not washing it with and sort of detergent for ages.

Nothing helped.

I also get patches a bit like psoriasis and t-gel helps with that but I can not get it for no the then have a fair up. No idea why.

At best I wants washing every day, but I might leave it 1.5-2 days ok have a day off and am not going anywhere
At worst, I wash it in the morning, it feels lank by the evening and is itchy the following morning.

EXCEPT when I am pregnant.
Near the end of pg #2 and bith pregnancies my skin and hair are the best I have ever known them. Could easily go 3-4 days between washes.
It's so nice being able to get a shower and not have to wash my hair every time.

No psoriasis patches when pg either.

Soon many typos Blush

foodylicious mine definitely has a hormonal element as the only time it's ever not been greasy the day after washing is while I was pregnant.

OP , I have to wash mine every day I'm at work (so at least three times a week) and can only leave it one more day before it's v itchy like yours. I just use a detox shampoo for when I've left it a day and then rotate a couple of other shampoos as I find using the same one each time makes it claggy. Probably not ideal but it feels clean and soft most days of the week!

I also agree with some pp's, washing too often means natural oils diminish and your body tries to replace it with producing even more. It's the same with facial acne.

I should think there's more than one reason for an itchy scalp and its best to work out whats causing it first.

Personally I have very greasy hair, and washing it frequently works best for me. But I dont assume that would suit someone with eczema or a fungal infection.

Try Selsun or ketoconazole or coal tar based shampoos and leave on for 5 minutes + before rinsing

I also suffer terribly. My scalp is so dry and scabby now from it. I've tried not washing so often. This makes it worse. And washing everyday doesn't improve it, just stays the same. Will try sulfur free and some other tips on here

Also watch out for products with the ‘itchy m’s in them. That sets my scalp off too.

NinaMarieP · 29/09/2018 14:05

Mine do @Icantbelieveitsnotnutter. I have to blow dry the scalp/roots at the back of my head if I'm going to leave the rest of it to dry naturally, otherwise when it's tied up that part doesn't dry and the itching drives me mad.
