To hate the word foodie

Is it just me or does anyone else find this a really irritating word to describe people who are food snobs. Overheard in the playground that little johnnie has sushi in his lunch box - "oh he is such a little foodie!" I love food does that make me a foodie ? Or does that not count if I eat fish fingers and mash for my tea some nights? Or come to think of it foodies propably don't have tea but supper anyway!

I don’t view it as ‘a food snob’, rather as someone who is into food, cooking, baking and trying new things.

But I think using foodie to describe little johnnies lunchbox (blatant performance parenting) is a knobbish thing to do, as are slates for plates and drinks in jam jars. Those things are not ‘foodie’

I think it's a little pretentious to describe a young child as a foodie (my eldest child is very adventurous and loves trying new stuff but I wouldn't describe him as a foodie). That said there's nothing wrong with saying an adult is a foodie. Just means you have an interest in food - probably like trying different types of food etc. I think you can like interesting food while also enjoying a bit of junk now and again.

"Foodie" on The Sims means a Simple who gets more enjoyment out of cooking and eating meals and desserts than a non foodie sim. I'd say that's quite accurate so would call myself a foodie Grin

I think it’s just someone that enjoys good food 🤷🏻‍♀️ It’s not offensive or anything so can’t really see the problem

A SIM Hmm

It's a naff, twee term IMO. I assume it was only used lightheartedly though. No-one really thinks Little Johnny is a professional food critic!

It used to just mean someone who was into their food. Now it seems synonymous with ‘greedy’.
