I had an utterly bizarre incident yesterday. For context DH and I are away at the moment, practically the other side of the world from our home country. DH and I were walking along a very busy street, it’s just getting dark, and I become aware of a woman who starts to alternate between walking a sensible distant behind me, to uncomfortably close behind behind me, to walking up right alongside me, with DH on my other side. We have a few repetitions of this, with her following me the length of the street, and then a flash goes off in my face. I am 100% sure she photographed me, it was at such a close range and there was no one else that could have been in the shot. I don’t say anything to her, because I’m not up for a confrontation in a language I only know a few words of. I tell DH she’s following me, and we move to stand in a shop doorway at the side of the pavement with the intention of getting out of her way. I was expecting her to pass us, but she walks right up to me and starts screaming in my face in broken English, the gist of it was: ‘why you look at me? You know me? You look at me! I hate you, you’re evil!’ DH tells her I’ve never seen her before I’m my life and to hop it, and she does. I’ve been trying to work out what the hell happened here since last night, and I’m a bit shaken by it, so please cheer me up and regale me with your stories of weird happenings.

When I was about 12/13 and in the days of the first portable house phones my friend and I were talking on the phone about a couple of boys that we knew. My friend was talking about how she didn't fancy one of them, who liked her, usual teen stuff.

Not long after we ended the conversation, one of the boys (who lived across the road from me) rang me ranting about the fact we had been talking about them. He repeated verbatim what we had been saying, I was like wtf?

It turns out that he was with the other boy and was tuning into the radio and just so happened to tune into our conversation at the exact time we were talking about them!

Bizarre!

Something that I simply cannot explain to this day. Many years ago, like, around 15 years ago, I had one of those old Nokia mobile phones. I think it was a 5110. Yep, just Googled it, it was a 5110. Anyway, I was doing some of my part-time uni study at home, as well as watching a football game on tv, and my phone buzzed with a text message. This is the weird part.

The message was; from my phone, TO my phone. Telling me to ring my phone!

How does that happen? I should have asked my phone company about it but I was too freaked out by the whole thing. Like, for eg, the text was from me 0409 . . . . . ., telling me to ring that number (how the hell do you ring your mobile from your mobile?). It was from me (my phone) to me, telling me to ring me.

From memory I was so freaked out I stood as far away from the phone after that, backing away from it slowly. I was too scared to even pick it up to turn it off. I never got another message like that, and don't know to this day how it happened, but it truly scared the hell out of me for ages after.

When I was a teenager I dreamt something the day before it happened exactly as it happened. It was nothing significant, just someone waving at me, but everything was identical, the place, the light and the way in which he waved.

I guess it was just a very strange coincidence and it's never happened again unfortunately.

was in the trafford centre food court when i was at uni.

a japanese man tapped me on the shoulder, and motioned that he wanted me to take a photo of his family in front of the fountain bit (that's like the front of a ship).

as i went to take his camera from him, he got quite animated, and it became obvious he wanted to take a photo of me with his family!

i have no idea why - i've never before (or since) been confused with anyone famous!

anyway, he took his photo, and they toddled off chattering excitedly to each other!

no clue at all who they thought i was.

actually, another incident was on a family holiday to florida.

was happily floating round the lazy river, watching 2 of my DCs swimming round and under all the people on their rubber rings.

i glance to my left, and the man on the ring next to me looks quite familiar, but can't think why. i sneak a longer look, and he clocks me looking at him. a few seconds pass with us both staring at each other, until it dawns on us both why -- we both coached teams in the same age group at the same village football club!

and now we were 2 yards apart, pasty and sunburnt, 4500 miles away from where we both live!

DiscontinuedModelHusband I was often asked to be in photos when I was traveling around SE Asia, it's not that random. I'd always go to take the picture but they'd say "no get in the picture"! I wouldn't mind if it was a family but I got a bit creeped out when men would try to do it. I'm not remotely famous and don't look like anyone famous.

Not me, but DS was bitten by a zebu once. I’ve told him he will likely be the only person he ever meets who has been bitten by a zebu.

DiscontinuedModelHusband · 09/10/2018 17:22

SaltedCaramelCake i'd get that, if i was in asia - as i'd be somewhat out of the ordinary!

but this was in manchester - there were literally hundreds of other pasty white blokes in every direction!

i was absolutely not out of the ordinary!

AnneWiddecombesHandbag · 09/10/2018 18:26

@DiscontinuedModelHusband are you very tall or very blonde or ginger?

Me and my husband are very tall. Once we walked through a group of Asian tourists on tower bridge. They all gawped at us and took pictures as we totally towered above them!

As a child parents booked a last minute holiday. They messed up and it ended up being in middle if nowherr and not in a good way. Anyways walking down the dirt track theres a man ahead in road looks spitting image of a family friend so my dad takes a photo of him. Que 2 weeks later after going max speilman etc takes said photo the pub to show friend his doppleganger. Turns out it was him and he produced a photo of my dad thinking the same thing from same angle.

Chances of them both last minute booking some obscure place in middle of no where 1000s miless away last minute in days before internet 🤔

An other story just remembered is my mum getting a random voice mail from her step dad just chit chat nothing major just checking in type thing. They wherent overly close after my dgm passed away. Speaking couple x per year. Anyways she called him back next day. only to find out hed had a massive embolism at exact same time as message and died after hanging up the phone.
