To ask a question r.e. liquids at airport?

I always get rage at these threads as the rules aren't difficult to understand (although I did used to work in an airport so I had lots of exposure)

I have some hair cream stuff from lush. Definitely falls under liquid... but it says 100g?! Can I take it or not?!

If it’s 100ml you can take it in cabin luggage if you put in a see through bag. I’d guess 100g is the same.

Hold luggage doesn’t matter.

MongerTruffle · 26/09/2018 19:51

Hair cream is going to be denser than water, so 100g is less than 100ml.

hooveringhamabeads · 26/09/2018 19:52

Can you scoop some out and put it in a smaller pot? Not sure on whether it would be allowed but bearing in mind you’re only allowed one tiny little bag of liquids per passenger I’d save the room and just take what you’re likely to need.

I don't have any empty pots... could go to the big asda and get one I guess. I'm only taking a perfume and moisturiser with me so okay for liquid space just now but it was £14 and I use it every day so I'll be sad if they take it off me 😂

Depends on airport staff. I once had stuff taken off me because the bottles were too big - even though they only had a few millilitres of liquid (they were transparent too). I've also been made to buy an airport plastic bag because my resealable sandwich bag was the wrong dimension. If you like your product, don't risk it. Airport security is ludicrous and randomly enforced. Depends on their mood that day.

it is not ludicrous to try to stop planes being blown up.

liquids, gels, pastes. take less.

Amanduh · 26/09/2018 20:46

You’ll be fine. I take my 100g sudocrem all the time!

IWouldLikeToKnow · 26/09/2018 21:03

I would ensure the volume of the pot/bottle it is in is I more than 100mls. Larger bottles may not be allowed through even if the amount of liquid is less than 100mls. 100g definitely not the same as 100mls unless it's water.

badg3r · 26/09/2018 21:14

Depends if there is a jobsworth on the security check. 100 g is not the same as 100 ml so if it doesn't say the volume on the bottle too it might get taken. But honestly, it will probably be fine.
