AIBU?
Any one used ' Wish' to buy clothes etc?
ALongHardWinter · 26/09/2018 19:03
I've looked at this company's website and they do have some lovely things at very reasonable prices. The only drawback is that you have to be prepared to wait longer for the item to reach you (which is the reason they give for their stuff being much cheaper). I've not ordered anything yet,I am hesitating because none of my family or friends have heard of them, let alone used them. Any MNers had any experience with them and if so,can you reassure me,or otherwise?

It looks like cheap crap drop-shipped in from Alibaba suppliers in China, hence the long lead times.
I’ve not shopped with them though so I’m happy to be corrected!
Eminybob · 26/09/2018 19:17
I have some maternity leggings which are fine, seem like decent enough quality, reasonably thick.
And I have a feeding t shirt, which I’ve not worn yet, but looks fine too. I’ll probably order some more in different colours if I like it once I start feeding in it.
Other stuff like cosmetics and stuff I’ve ordered have been pretty basic, but cheap so I’m not too bothered.

I've not shopped with wish but I have used the AliExpress app to buy a few bits. I bought some shirts a few years ago. They were a bit big but good quality. I just make sure I choose stuff that has good customer reviews with pics attached

Wouldn't for cosmetics, electronics, etc - all very cheaply made, and fake if they appear to be branded.
Clothing is cheap fast fashion and all run small as it's a Chinese company. You can look at youtube for advice, a lot of vloggers buy and review items from there.

I have but it is very hit and miss. The quality ranges from just ok to poor. The material can be very thin and the finish poor especially cotton items like t shirts. I did buy some shoes which were good and I also buy hair bands and the like. Gym shorts were also good.
Delivery times tend to be a week or so quicker than stated in most cases and I have never had anything not arrive.
ALongHardWinter · 26/09/2018 19:22
Thanks to all who have responded.
at FlippinNora. 'Alibaba suppliers'!
TheFifthKey · 26/09/2018 19:27
I’ve bought kids stuff from there - leggings and t-shirts - all fine, like supermarket clothes quality and good prices as they come in small packets. I’ve also bought “bits” that were usually under £5 including postage - 50 magic eraser sponges was a highlight! Barbie dresses, a phone holder for my car, little stocking filler things. They tend to be exactly what I thought they’d be and arrive quicker than they say. Pretty happy all round, although I wouldn’t buy anything of any great value.
worknamechanged · 26/09/2018 19:29
I got some eyebrow stencils from there - they were free and I paid for shipping I think. Fine, no issues.
I don’t recommend shien - poor customer services and takes too long though.
FlippinNora1 · 26/09/2018 19:30
Oh god that sounds like I was being a dick!
Alibaba is an actual company - a sort of eBay for wholesalers and manufacturers in China and I think India? Full of lots of cheaply made stuff, imitations, knock offs and fakes.
SerenDippyEggs · 26/09/2018 19:33
I recommend SheIn - it's got a UK site now and is engaging. Always offers of free shipping and good quality stuff 90% of the time! But take your measurements before shopping and check the size chart of every single item as they're all different!
Fartymcnarty · 26/09/2018 19:37
Bought a few bits from wish and all been absolute crap!
StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 26/09/2018 20:03
shein has been great for me, had some really good quality stuff from them but also one or two not so great, you can usually tell by scrutinising the pictures and yes as PP said use your measurements and check each item. had to return a pair of sandals once which went ok, took a while for the refund but got it. you also get money off from points gained when you review stuff. it takes around 10 days for items to arrive so I order then forget so its nice when they turn up.
mypointofview · 26/09/2018 20:09
I ordered rainbow leggings from a youtube company that looks identical. The colours ran in the first wash. They suggested I absorb the cost because, by the time I'd sent the leggings back to them, I would be making a negligible amount of money if they were to refund the cost.
jmh740 · 26/09/2018 20:12
I've bought a few bits from there some novelty bits for xmas etc they've been fine, I ordered a 5xl cardi I'm 5'11 and size 16 it only just fit 10 year old dd
HildaZelda · 26/09/2018 20:18
My sil buys loads of bits of there and everything has been okay. I bought earrings and they were fine.
Be prepared to wait a while for delivery though.
Fascinate · 26/09/2018 20:19
Love Wish. I've had clothes, accessories, shoes, craft stuff from them. Like ebay, it is a store-front for businesses, so do your research on each seller. You will find different sellers with the same items listed for varying prices. I have found that going for the mid range or more expensive prices generally offer better quality (I.e. the really cheap prices are defo knock-offs).
The one thing I won't buy is electricals as it's a global market place and EU or British standards are not enforced. Also I would be wary of buying things like knives, nunchucks, knuckledusters, etc as if they are inspected by Customs they will be seized. Again, these items can be listed as it's global.
Busybusybust · 26/09/2018 20:26
I’ve bought lots of dolls house miniature stuff. It’s mostly good quality, but scale can be dodgy.
LongSummerDays · 26/09/2018 20:28
I've had a few pairs of leggings and tops from Wish for a pound or two. Read the reviews carefully. Remember the sizes are a lot smaller - go by the actual measurements rather than small, medium, large etc.
LongSummerDays · 26/09/2018 20:29
Ack! Hit enter too soon. Quality has been fair, I've a couple of tops that I wash and wear as they're so comfy, no pilling or reshaping needed.
WeeDoughball · 26/09/2018 20:34
DH got a really nice jacket which is good quality and you'd never know it was cheap. I got a jacket that looks shit and cheap (but it was so not a big issue, can wear it dog walking). I'm debating trying again with a pair of boots.
sorryimgettingemotional · 26/09/2018 20:35
It’s very hit and miss, especially with clothing. Some things are great others are terrible so you’ve just got to decide whether to risk it or not.
ALongHardWinter · 26/09/2018 20:39
My main concerns were whether the stuff actually turns up,which going on the replies so far doesn't seem to be an issue. I'm also wondering about the sizing. I'm around a UK size 20 - 22,and some of the clothes shown are available in 5XL,and a few in 6 XL,and wondered if this would be big enough?
LucyMorningStar · 26/09/2018 20:50
Bought things like lip balm, earrings, a watch and little bits like that. My mum ordered a fitness tracker which turned out to be utter shite but they returned the money straight away as soon as she complained.
LucyMorningStar · 26/09/2018 20:53
As for clothes sizes they usually provide tables with actual measurements. I considered getting something once and it ended up being something like 3xl or 4xl, I am size 12 in real life.
It absolutely does arrive though, don't worry about that.
