To feel massively proud of my teen?

DS (14) is out and proud and happy and comfortable with himself. I feel so proud of him!
We found out about a year ago after I did a random phone check and found he had googled "how to come out to your parents". He said he was Bi but didn't want to talk about it. We said we loved him and have kept communication open about it.
He told me on Saturday that he is definitely gay. Doesn't have any feelings towards girls at all. He's happy about it, has told some friends at school and is thinking about suggesting an LGBT support group to his head of year.
I get this sounds like a stealth boast but you know I am just so bloody proud of him! I still have the normal worries and concerns about bullying and attitudes towards him but he tells me things are different these days in schools and it's accepted.
My parents know and have been great, I'm dreading the day when we have to tell DH parents though. They are bigoted and racist and I know for a fact they will not accept it, I think out of everything that will be the biggest challenge for him but I guess we will just cross that bridge when we come to it.

You sound brilliant! He is happy in himself and trusts you. Sounds like a lovely family setup

That’s lovely, and a testament to your parenting.

Fabulous. So lovely that teens can be themselves these days. I imagine it's still hard though.

Amazing! Well done your DS and you Grin

It really is. He has had some hard times over the last 12 months, had panic attacks at school and we managed to get him some talking therapy which has helped massively. He took the decision last week that he didn't need any more therapy which coincided with him telling me he was gay so I'm pretty sure it's the coming out that's eased his mind.
