Healthy punishment aibu?

A bit shocked. I've just learnt that my DC's teacher is using a healthy snack as punishment. DC has not been punished however a small group in class were given fruit whilst the others had a sweet treat each. In my mind this is confusing, we are told to give our children a healthy diet , but they are using something we are trying to promote as a punishment. Aibu or is this a bit rubbish?

Wtf?!

This cant be right?!

Maybe everyone was given/offered fruit but sweets only given to those who were good?

That's awful if you've got that right, I would say something. If you are talking primary I am surprised they are allowed to give out sweets at all. My Ds's class used to get punished with silent reading if they made too much noise. Great way to instill a passion for reading in small children!

So from this point on they will accociate healthy food with punishment.

Great template for the rest of their life I don’t think.

I hope that isn't what happened. I can't imagine that's right and what a terrible punishment of reading too.

Fruit for all plus sweets if you got a correct answer maybe?

I would talk to them.if I was you...using food as a punishment.t is never a good idea,

Princesstwilightsparkle · 24/09/2018 06:43

It's true apparently. It threw me, I heard DC mention something, but they are little I wasn't sure they were telling me correctly. I then heard it from one of the Mum's. How do you approach a school without being seen as precious? I get that children can be naughty, but how can you discipline more effectively?

Just go and talk to the teacher, something along the lines of

'Could you clarify something that my DC has said?' etc.
