Dh wiping dirty mouth on towel aibu?

Ok, I have namechanged as I have told dh that I am going to ask this question.

My dh brushes his teeth, gets lots of toothpaste round his mouth and then wipes it on a towel.
I have asked him many many times to wash his face and then just dry it on the towel.

Who is being unreasonable?

Ok, it's interesting to see how others think.
I think it's not nice to wipe my hands/face on a towel he has used for this.
He will be happy with some of the replies Smile

Surely it's far more unhygienic for him wiping his face on a towel you've used for your hands than vice versa. However as, presumably, you sleep together hygiene doesn't really come into it. What he's got, youve got.

I'm now really wishing I hadn't shared this thread with dh 😂

I thought a towel in the bathroom was kind of for this....! My kids and I wpuld do this.

If i say to my kids "wipe your face" it could be with a flannel or towel depending what was nearer.

Qcumber · 23/09/2018 21:25

One of the best things about ex dp moving out was that I didn't have to look at rings of toothpaste on all my towels. YANBU.

EK36 · 23/09/2018 21:28

Give him a dry flannel to use instead?

dudsville · 23/09/2018 21:32

You have my vote op. This is why I can be cautious using hand towels in other people's homes! I'm not germ phobic but toothpaste mouth is essentially minty spit. Not something I want to dry my hands on!

Zintox · 23/09/2018 21:35

Yuk. Using a towel to wipe a dirty face is grim. He needs a flannel. Although why can’t he brush his teeth without getting it around his face anyway?

Agentornika · 23/09/2018 21:37

Towels are for drying washed and clean parts of the body, not for wiping used toothpaste and spit on. It's gross op, I'm with you

MrsStrowman · 23/09/2018 21:46

DH used to do this, until we had people coming over and he said, the hand towel in the bathroom is dirty and I can't find a clean one (I may have put them somewhere they didn't usually live), I just said well if it's no problem to smear toothpaste all over the hand towel I have to use it's no problem for people other than me to have to use it. He got the point and doesn't do it anymore.

Nolagerformethanks · 23/09/2018 21:47

Did I write this? 😂 my other half does this on our deep purple towels that I always fold so neatly over our towel heater then I walk in to horrible white smears all over them! Urrgh! I am probably am being unreasonable but my pretty towels look so gross sometimes!

Thatstheendofmytether · 23/09/2018 21:47

🤢

LesLavandes · 23/09/2018 21:54

He needs his own personal towel

smallchanceofrain · 23/09/2018 21:57

My ex used to do this. It's gross. No one wants to use a towel with crusty toothpaste spit on it. It's one of the many reasons I divorced the bastard. Grin

AliceRR · 23/09/2018 21:59

DH did this! Mouth covered in toothpaste and probably saliva and he’d just wipe it on the hand towel when he was done!!

I told him he should wash first or at least use own bath towel!

I’m hoping he doesn’t do this any more

starzig · 23/09/2018 22:01

I do this. The towel is general purpose.

HopeFaithAndSkulduggery · 23/09/2018 22:08

Revolting.

My ex used to wash his mouth at the kitchen sink after a meal then dry it at using a tea towel. Equally revolting.

RedOrBeDead · 23/09/2018 22:09

It's gross. No one wants to use a towel with crusty toothpaste spit on it

Agree with this wholeheartedly. I definitely would not want someone else's old toothpaste and saliva on my clean hands. Grown adults really should know how to wash their faces properly. I mean WHY would you not wash it unless it's pure laziness??!

redastherose · 23/09/2018 22:10

Toothpaste is a type of detergent and when left like this could bleach the towel (if coloured) and will leave a sticky patch. Like pp's have said it's not nice for anyone wiping their hands afterwards and a rather childish thing to continue to do.

FrederickCreeding · 23/09/2018 22:12

My children do this and it drives me mad. I keep telling them towels are for drying and they need to wash their faces first!

JeNeBaguetteRien · 23/09/2018 23:10

It's minging, why would you not wash the toothpaste off first, if you have indeed managed to get toothpaste all round your face in the first place.

Mr Mintyrage please stop this and give your wife a break from the crusty toothpaste towels. Unless she is also a minger in some way! 😉

mintyrage · 24/09/2018 07:00

@dudsville exactly 'minty spit' is my thought too Envy
