Hi, I know about most of the attractions by now and I guess it's just choosing which ones to go to!

Did you buy your tickets on the official websites or are there any discounts available?

Also, is Amsterdam really that expensive to eat out? Can you recommend nice restaurants? Within budget.. Chinese/Japanese/dutch.. I hear good things about Indonesian too?

We are going next week for 4 nights. Also for spending money I am thinking €600 would be enough for myself for 4 nights to be comfortable? I don't want to be worrying as I won't be back anytime soon and I want to be able to splurge!!

Any must do/sees/eat? Is the Amsterdam swing look out worth it? Smile

If you're interested in history I also really liked the Resistance Museum

Thanks for all the info everyone. Having a field day taking down all the activities and eateries in my iPhone notes! 😂 let's see how many I can tick off the list..

Are there any Jewish/holocaust interesting museums?

We loved the book market at Spui, Hummus Bistro DNA (random recommendation perhaps but beautiful beautiful food, we ate there twice), and just wandering.

I have been to the Jewish museum, and it was interesting to show how small an area most of the Amsterdam Jews lived in.

If you want to see a real windmill (that you can tour) without travelling out the city get the number 2 tram to then end stop, Oudenaardeplantsoen, and follow the signs to the Molen van Sloten (15 minute walk max.). Sloten is a beautiful little 10th century village which was incorporated into the city boundaries in 1921. It has a pretty little square and the Netherlands smallest police station, now a gift shop/cafe only open on the weekends. Then you can get the tram back to town. The tram journey is only 30 minutes to Spui where the book shops are and the Begijnhof is.

We went to Amsterdam in October. The IAmsterdam card is definitely worth looking at buying.
A great place to visit was: www.amsterdam.info/museums/museum_lordattic/ just for the story behind it.

The Cat Museum is fun! It has resident cats , not very friendly though, but the best thing is you get to snoop into the lovely private gardens of the houses on either side. talking of gardens the Begjinhof is worth tracking down. There are also other small courtyard gardens that are private but open to respectful visitors.
