To think DS shouldn't do 20 hours of work for £3?

DS plays a game and has offered to level up people's accounts to a certain level where things get unlocked. I'm not entirely sure what it means. But anyway, once he gets it there, he gets £3.

He says he enjoys it but sometimes won't take a break when he normally would because he "wants to get it done". It takes him about a week, as he does have other priorities in his life.

Just seems like I should put a stop to this. He's 15.

He runs the risk of getting banned aside from anything else.

I am not anti-gaming at all but something about this makes me uneasy. I don’t really like it from a values position but that is nobody’s issue but mine.

I would be keeping a very close eye on things and be ready to pull the plug on the slightest sign of impact on his quality of life.

If he really is great at the games what about suggesting a YouTube channel? I teach a handful of kids who have managed to make decent cash out of posting their own gaming videos.

I think he is undercharging - looking at the rates quoted here: boosting.pro/games/overwatch/

When I was 12 I used to get about 20 pounds a week for getting up at 5am every week day to do a paper round

Christ, I hope you're much younger than me, cos I used to do the same for £9 a week!

Akanamali · 23/09/2018 15:52

If that's the most people are willing to pay I don't think £3 is terrible for playing a game he'd likely be playing anyway for fun

I used to deliver the local free rag on a Tuesday. 350 houses, £3.50. Took me 4/5 hours. This was 1980.....

I would leave it up to him entirely as long as he is keeping up with schoolwork, but you could point out that if he has a waiting list he could probably charge a bit more.

Not the point of the thread, but how bloody sad / lazy that people can’t be bothered to play themselves Confused

Hanyu · 23/09/2018 17:37

Yes, it’s the ultimate in lazy fuckery.
