5 months old ds, tummy bug?

Posting here for traffic as I'm really worried and don't know what to do and know this is a busy board

Ds is 5 months and has had a bit of a cold for the last few days. Yesterday he had what seemed to be diarrhoea and today he's had diarrhoea and has vomited up everything he's eaten. He's sleeping now but when he's awake he cries pretty much constantly. When I lay him on his back to change him he screams like he's being murdered!

I think he must have a tummy bug of some sort and I have no idea what to do! Will he be ok or should I contact the out of hours gp? He's formula fed, should I try giving him water to keep him hydrated? Obviously if it was me I'd stop eating until I'd gotten it out of my system, but surely I need to keep feeding him even if he can't keep it down?

Sorry, I'm probably being really pfb, I'm not generally an anxious mother and am very relaxed with him but this has really freaked me out. I'm so worried we've made him really sick

Keep trying to get his milk into him. Keep an eye on his nappies. If he doesn't have many wet nappies he may be getting dehydrated. This can happen quickly.

I would get him checked out. For a child that young the GP may send you down to paediatrics where they will check him over properly. My lo had a tummy bug at 1 and ended up being tube fed just for 2 days as it was easier to keep down. Perked up almost instantly. Hth.

Just give him water and speak to nhs helpline . I doubt it’s anything you do if you make up the formula bottles correctly
