Christ. Just go see your GP!

overagain · 21/09/2018 22:48

Could be thrush, it doesn't always have discharge. Could be dermatitis. Could be an sti.

MadamePeony · 21/09/2018 22:58

Go for an STI screen to rule out infection.
Stop using any soap products around the genital are- especially those that say they are specifically designed for there.
Warm water around your flappy bits once daily is sufficient for hygiene.
Use an emollient such as epaderm or hydramol on the vulval skin every day for a month. Put on at night and let it soak in.

FairyLights99 · 21/09/2018 23:04

Thanks for replies

No chance it’s an STI, I haven’t had sex for 3.5 years and then used condoms!

I don’t use soap there just a flannel and water

So possibilities are

  1. thrush with no discharge. Do I just buy canesten and see if that works?
  1. Dermatitis. How would this be treated?
  1. Need of emollient - I’ve ordered some to try

Thanks 🙏

Could be threadworms, they can get confused and go to the vag instead of the bum hole sometimes.

CardsforKittens · 21/09/2018 23:08

Mostly likely thrush. But when in doubt always see your GP.

overagain · 21/09/2018 23:10

1, yes but get the pessary and cream.

  1. It can't really, you need bloods to rule out underlying causes (mine was a secondary yeast infection that canestan doesn't treat and an underactive thyroid). If no underlying cause, they can give you a vag friendly moisturizer. The emollient might help.
starbrightlight · 21/09/2018 23:10

Use non-bio washing powder and put your undies through an extra rinse. I get itchy when things aren't properly rinsed and the auto rinse always leaves residue. I learnt that the hard (itchy) way.

Could be this

ambostraw · 21/09/2018 23:12

Genital,psoriasis

starbrightlight · 21/09/2018 23:12

Also likely to be thrush, especially if it keeps coming back around your period. That used to happen to me every single month. Try the oral tablet as well as Canestan cream.

starbrightlight · 21/09/2018 23:13

Live yoghurt applied to vulva and inside might help as well.

Dottierichardson · 21/09/2018 23:14

Could be an allergy or a reaction to something, is usually recommended to wash genital area with unscented products so if don't already, could try that. Is also one of the symptoms of type 2 Diabetes...

ileclerc · 21/09/2018 23:18

Herpes

Genital psoriasis

Lichen sclerosis

Thrush

Allergy

Time to go to the docs!

Attilathehunny · 21/09/2018 23:19

I just saw women’s health about literally this! Can be low estrogen which is what I was worried about. Otherwise everything mentioned above. She said scented or coloured toilet can do this.

FairyLights99 · 21/09/2018 23:25

Ah starbrightlight yes it does seem to be prevalent around period time
Will try canesten then as a first port of call.
My surgery have a list of medications that the doctor won’t prescribe for as available over counter, canesten being one of them

You can buy Flucanozole 150 mg cheaply from an online chemist. It's the same oral antifungal that used to be prescription only.

Canasten cream will sooth and treat the vulval itch until the tablet works (approx. 2 days).

BV?

DontCallMeCharlotte · 23/09/2018 11:58

How old are you OP? I've had similar on and off since the menopause. I use Vagisil wipes which are a bloody miracle.

Tightsonatrain · 23/09/2018 12:14

I had dermatitis round there, except my symptoms were pain and redness (was diagnosed with vulvodynia first)

-first try an emollient (I used sylk which was excellent); but there are lots of others. Basically as long as it feels soothing it’s working
-if not, gp or gynae will need to prescribe a steroid cream, but you’d want to see a medical person first
