to ask for reassurance with positive stories of tooth extractions

I unwisely saw far too many comments on MN about dry socket, and am (uncharacteristically for me) holding back tears about the extraction I'm having on Monday (and I've got to go to work now, so we really can't have tears, we just can't). I've had six extractions before (four wisdom, two others for orthodontic reasons) and never got this bothered about any of them, but this one's a cracked molar and it's overnight turned from uncomfortable if I bite on it, to really, really painful, all the time. Taking ibuprofen and cocodamol, but they aren't doing much so I have a weekend of just breathing (and working) and tolerating the feeling like someone's stuck a skewer through my jaw.
Orajel and clove oil just send me through the roof, so I think they're probably inflaming rather than calming.
Funny stories, positive stories, simple and unremarkable stories of how you had a tooth extracted and it all went well and you felt much better for getting it out, please! (And PLEASE no dry socket stories )
Sorry for unhinged rambling. TIA and a good weekend to all!

How did you get on Dolores? Mine crumbled, but I didn't feel a thing. My dentist says I must relax for the rest of the day.Smile

Like the name!
On my way home now. Planning to take root on my bed for the rest of the day with mumsnet an improving book. DH has said he'll come home and look after me which I always struggle with. Bless him, he's a giver...

Oh, and the dentist was impressed firstly by the tooth which was beautifully cracked into two halves and couldn't possibly have been saved, and by the density of my bone. Apparently.
