Escaped rabbits

I have two rabbits which are exceptional escape artists, and last year started getting into the garden behind ours. The lady there didn't like it so I put a fence up at Easter last year, which they breached a couple of times but eventually kept them in. Until a couple of weeks ago when she came round to say they'd been in her garden again. I couldn't see anywhere they could have got through the fence so I just left it but then she came round again yesterday going absolutely mad saying they've eaten her plants and pooed in her garden. I said I'd have another look at the fence, but she wouldn't accept that saying she's going to take legal action, that it's making her ill blah blah blah. She wouldnt let me speak, kept saying the same things over and over again, and at that point I started getting annoyed. She then stood by the hedge, peering into my garden shouting at me while I was trying to get the rabbits back through.

Am I being unreasonable in wanting to tell her to get a grip and f* off? The rabbits must have been in her garden 10 times in total max. And her garden is mostly just grass, so I can't believe they've caused much damage, and I have offered to replace the plants but she refused. Opinions please.

My neighbour got used to seeing me in his garden trying to catch one of my wee beggers. Luckily he didn't mind (garden was unkept lawn and woodland) and rather enjoyed the entertainment!

What eventually worked was laying these down about 6 inches below grass level, replacing the soil and then sowing grass seed. We also dug chicken wire down the sides and under the grids. It took quite a lot of work, but at least the rabbits are now safe. Hopefully!

You wouldn't want to eat my stringy old bunnies!

I’m sorry to be an arse, so feel free to call me one, but despite your protestations, you are not a responsible owner if your pets have escaped 10 times. Regardless of the situation with your neighbour, you are responsible for keeping them safe and you’re not doing that. Likewise if I let my dogs escape repeatedly from my garden - I would rightly be called a poor dog owner or if I repeatedly let my toddler escape out of the house I would be called a poor parent.
Secure your bunnies properly and maintain the security. Then the issue with your neighbour isn’t one.

Yabu, you are not being responsible if they keep escaping ( from a rabbit owner).
They will not stand well against a cat, dog or fox and this a neighbour is right to be pissed.
Its her garden they’re ruining( whether you think its just a few plants) its still her garden.
The next time they eacape they may end up in the wrong garden or your neighbour may not be as nice.

if your rabbits ate my plants and I was a gardener I would be very annoyed. I have rabbits who free roam (in our garden) and I have lost some nice plants to them, and been really annoyed and they are MY rabbits! Rabbits eat the growing shoots so kill the plants.

When you 'couldn't see how they had got through' then you should have tried harder. They did get through, so looking and shrugging your shoulders doesn't do it.

Beware as well. We now only have one rabbit. The other one got through a previously unknown hole in the fence and next door'd dog pounced.

She's being a twat? Why because she's sick of her neighbours rabbits shitting on her garden and eating her plants.

I don't think so Hmm
