To want to know what my kids eat?

At Nursery and then at school?

In daycare, I used to get a notebook sent home every day with what was eaten, how much, how many nappy changes, what they did in the day etc etc etc.

My DS can never seem to remember what he eats in the day so I have no idea what he is eating or how much he's eating... aibu to want to know?

(More out of curiosity so I know exactly how much of a fussy bum he's being at home than to check up on him.)

Is your son in reception? If so, then if you want to know what he eats, send in a packed lunch and you can deduce what he's eaten from what is left.

No way do schools have the capacity to be writing food consumed reports for 30 children in each class each day.

Or if he has school dinners, look at the menu?

ChocolateCupcake123 · 20/09/2018 22:23

Most if not all schools/nursery’s have a menu available to parents.

Unfortunately they don’t have time to note down how much each and every child eats. You may only have 2 lunch teachers for over 100 kids.

No he's in F1 which is attached to the school.

If he's in reception the school should issue you with a menu for the term then you can see the options and ask him which he had.
Or you could send it packed lunch so you know What and how much he's eating.

I was a nursery nurse/teaching assistant and I wouldn't want to / nor would I have the time to write a diary for 30 kids each day - at nursery you only have 3/4 key children so it's easier and they all ('mostly) eat the same things.

Yes, YABU, or at least have unreasonable expectations.

If he isn't eating, then they will let you know, and set something up. Otherwise, he is fine.
If you want to micromanage the details to that extent, then you need to Home Ed.

I found the lack of communication going from private daycare to state school a jolt. You are so used to the daily reports and then nothing!

We can see what our daughter eats at school on the parent pay website - even though the meals are free they still put the menu choice in. It doesn't say how much she ate, but I can usually guess by how desperate she is for a snack at the end of the day.

I'm 90% sure that the F1 children will be eating the same food as the school dinners children if its attached to the school. It should be available online.
Not that it helps on the how much they ate though.

Look at the menu provided by the school and adjust your expectations of what teachers have time to do Confused
