Just that really. Started work 40 years ago and it was tricky then. Recently had a new starter same problems trying to get overall sized for her. I'm so angry 40 years and we've not moved forward. I feel like I need to do something but what. Share our stories, get angry, change the world!

Screwfix do PPE for women, there is a section in their catalogue for it.

liquidrevolution · 20/09/2018 22:58

Ah yes coffee but companies won't buy it.

My firm is ok actually and has sourced female ppe. My problem is hard hats for my ridiculously small head. Site manager won't order one in for me so mine just falls off if I hold my head in any position other than looking straight ahead.

So what some of you are saying is that it does exist if you hunt it down but companies won't buy it and it's not held in stock so it's special.order. No wonder we can't attract or keep women in STEM.!

Engelbert Strauss. Really common in Germany/Switzerland. All my workwear comes from them. It’s pricey but you get what you pay for.

  1. YANBU At All
  2. Zero personal experience to share, but had to read thread as my brain was refusing to help with meanings of PPE beyond "subject read by idiot Toryboys at Oxford" Blush

Is so utterly crap that you're not being supplied with the clothing you need to be able to do your jobs safely. And it does seem a bit ridiculous it can still be happening in the C21, until you remember how the C21 seems to be turning out. Driven in part by antics of buckeejits wrapped in the other kind of PPE...

My experience is they can get this stuff to fit correctly. It's just companies are too stingy and tight fisted to go with different suppliers etc to get the right fit.

Says she sitting in her 27" leg PPE trousers Grin

At my factories (with a reasonably sized female workforce) we have women’s PPE.
As a visitor, I bring my own safety shoes, but visitor kit up for everything else. And all the visitor stuff is 5XL and men’s cut where applicable. I don’t mind that though as it doesn’t fit any of my male colleagues either!
I’m fine with one size fits no-one for visitor stash, but for employees on site I think firms should supply well fitting stuff!
