Why do people do this? Aaaaaaaah

Why do people review products when they haven't fucking used them? It is the fucking height of unreasonableness.

I'm looking for shelving brackets - I know my life is too exciting to handle.

Amazon is awash with people who say things like:
"Haven't used them yet but they look good"
"Not opened them but they look sturdy"
"Arrived quickly, look good"

WHY?! WHY?! When Amazon emails and asks you to review your purchase a couple of days after it arrives, that's not a fucking order from God to do it there and then.

Just wait, use the produce and THEN review. FUCKERS

OMG yes.

The Q&A cracks me up:

Q: Does the white blind have white glitter?
A: I don't know, we bought the black blind which had silver glitter.

That's not helpful!

The mothercare product reviews are basically reviews of each individual store. "Store was busy" that's nice, how was the product?!

ACatsNoHelpWithThat · 20/09/2018 15:24

I haven't read the opening post yet but I'm sure I'll agree with it wholeheartedly.

AGirlinLondon · 20/09/2018 15:25

I also don’t like when people leave reviews for something they bought for someone else.

Like - ‘I am a new grandmother/GMIL and bought this for my daughter - she uses it all the time and i think it is fantastic!

Dude - she doesn’t use it all the time. She put it on ebay ten mins after you left.

ChortleFace88 · 20/09/2018 15:28

I was looking at facebook reviews of my local theatre which has numerous touring shows, a different one every week, so reviews should be of the theatre itself. One person had given the theatre a one star review because the production of Sister Act that they saw there had "original songs and not the songs from the film, we were very disappointed as we love the film".

Another person gave a 1 star review as their seat was broken (fair enough) but "didn't complain to any staff at the time, as I didn't see the point".

userxx · 20/09/2018 15:29

I just snorted at the penguin mask review. Brilliant.

LucyLoooo · 20/09/2018 15:29

"I've bought it for my DD's birthday, hope she's going to like it". LOL

frogface69 · 20/09/2018 15:34

Saw this yesterday. For a book.

"Bought for the wife. It has kept her quiet, so that is fine by me "

What a wit.
I suppose at least he bought her something.

lizzzyyliveson · 20/09/2018 15:35

Oh dear, I am guilty of this. I thought that the email from Amazon was just a check of their delivery procedure. I will go and see if I have left a load of naff reviews. Blush

MissusGeneHunt · 20/09/2018 15:35

@Battleaxebus the link has made my day... Thank you!!! Grin

MereDintofPandiculation · 20/09/2018 15:36

I am a new grandmother/GMIL How can you be a new GMIL? . Maternal and paternal GMs have exactly the same degree of biological relationship to the GC. (Sorry to drift away from thread)

missbattenburg · 20/09/2018 15:39

I am always driven mad by the ones that say something like "I bought this for my brother and he said he loved it".

OF COURSE he said he loved it - it was a GIFT. He's hardly likely to tell the gift giver it was a load of bol**cks, is he?

ankasi · 20/09/2018 15:41

I saw an airline review on TripAdvisor today where someone had given the airline 1 star because they had lost their phone on board.
You really have to wonder...

Oh, yes, there was one on my local FB a while ago went something like:

"I used to have my hair cut by Sarah at NiceHair but she's moved. Does anyone know where she's working now? Or if she's gone mobile? I don't have her on Facebook and I can't find her?"
Reply 1: No
Reply 2: I think she moved salons but I don't know where too
Reply 3: No
Reply 4: she might have gone mobile, have you looked on her FB?
Reply 5: No, sorry hun x
Reply 6: My name's Deidre and I'm a hairdresser. PM me for an appointment xx

NOT FUCKING HELPFUL TWATS

I agree it is annoying. What also annoys me on Amazon is after I have given a review, Amazon occasionally e-mail me related questions which I don't usually mind answering. Eg, I use soy wax to make scented candles - but the last question was: 'is this wax vegan'. I have no idea! Surely you would contact the manufacturer for something like that?

OvO · 20/09/2018 15:52

Yes! So annoying.

Also people who review recipes, giving it 5 out of 5 stars, yet their post is "looks amazing, can't wait to make this."

I don't need to know you think the photo is fucking pretty. I need to know if it tastes good, you knobber,

ChortleFace88 · 20/09/2018 15:56

OvO or people who leave 1/2 star reviews on recipes that say "turned out rubbish. I didn't have any self raising flour so used plain, didn't have any caster sugar so used granulated. Didn't rise and tasted awful, terrible recipe, don't waste ur time"

Flooffloof · 20/09/2018 15:58

Oops I think I am guilty of this. When I get a while I shall look all my reviews up and alter them.

AdmiralJaneway · 20/09/2018 15:58

Oh don’t get me started! I hate this when it’s so useless. I’ve finally found a holiday and booked it but not until I’d driven myself bonkers by looking at the reviews - I mean - do these reviewers even stay in the same place?! How can two reviews of the same place/week be so utterly different - from the sublime to the dire!!?

Laiste · 20/09/2018 15:58

The ones who give 1 star and then go on to explain they're using it for totally the wrong thing must be infuriating for the seller.

Recently i was looking on amazon for a decent purple shampoo to keep the brassy tones out of pale blonde hair. A weekly shampoo in and out again thing. 5 stars all the way for one product ... except one review. Went like this -

1 star. This is rubbish. I left it on for a whole hour and my black hair is STILL not blonde!

Hmm
AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 20/09/2018 16:05

A review of a book I want to read

Why do people do this? Aaaaaaaah
Battleaxebus · 20/09/2018 16:07

@Laiste As a peroxide blonde, I giggled at that.

This is the best shampoo for getting the brassy out I find.

soupforbrains · 20/09/2018 16:11

I absolutely couldn't agree more. HOWEVER,

every now and then you stumble across a truly awesome review for something. Like for example, when I was shopping for a multipack of glowsticks for my DS's birthday disco and didn't want to buy cheap ones which hardly lit up and cam across this PHENOMENAL review.

AMAZING

you will not be disappointed I promise.
