To ask if to send LO to school, hot too touch but no temperature

Woke in middle of night DD 4 next to me burning up, felt hot too touch, especially on chest, back and legs/feet, cheeks bit rosy, checked temp, 37.5. Gave calpol, sat here in undies watching tv, cooling down nicely, she just ate some toast, little bit quieter than usual. But no temp, so new to this sending to school business, not sure what to do. Ask how feels, says fine? Arghhh so hard x

I would send her and you could always mention as she goes in that she was a bit under the weather in the night; if she’s not well they will send her home

Twodogsandahooch · 20/09/2018 06:31

To school she goes

Camomila · 20/09/2018 06:33

She might have just have got too hot in the night if she was all snuggled up?

What's she like usually when she has a temp. My DS never gets one unless he's really ill but other DC get a bit of a temperature with every cold/bug and are otherwise fine.

Thanks, will send school and see how she goes, she usually sweats in bed if too hot, but hair was dry and she was boiling that's usually when I know she's not well. It was how hot she was that woke me I could feel her burning next to me. Seems to be perking up now x

At 4 I wouldn’t- she’s still tiny and being poorly at school (she must have just started?) would be upsetting for her.
At 14 I would!

Don't necessarily expect school to notice if she gets hot again. I have had dc sent out who I could see weren't well and felt boiling but the teacher just said that she hadn't said anything. You need to be clear with her that she must talk to the teacher if she feels ill. Alternatively wait until the Calpol wears off and if her temperature doesn't increase then send her in mid morning.

is dc well?
then of course they go to school.

my dc often get very warm at night - totally normal imo

emma2939 · 20/09/2018 07:04

Thanks gonna see how she is over next hour, did say you must tell teacher if you don't feel well today. She wants to go school but I feel she's getting warm to touch again, still eating and happy enough, so difficult knowing what to do x

If the temp is coming back no I wouldn’t at this age feeling I’ll or being ill at school could create negative associations

Wolfiefan · 20/09/2018 07:26

Is the Calpol wearing off do you think?

Wonkydonkey44 · 20/09/2018 07:48

I wouldn’t send to school temps can easily shoot up again .

LoveAGoodChat · 20/09/2018 08:01

Is she showing any signs of being unwell (part from warmness)?...if you send her mention the no fever but warmness to the teacher so he/she can keep an eye in her incase a fever suddenly arises later at school

Wildboar · 20/09/2018 08:04

Did you 100% take the temperature correctly? That sounds like fever symptoms in which case she shouldn’t be at school.
