I've just failed (badly) for the second time. First time was a manoeuvre but ironically the rest of the test went a lot better than today. Today was a dangerous fault followed by some of the worst driving I've ever done because my nerves went from 0-100.

I'm in my thirties and have always felt I wouldn't be able to drive. What made today worse was my reaction, I felt tears falling down my face and my hands shaking with anxiety. I went to pieces.

I had PND after the birth of my child and came off meds in July. Something about the instructor, examiner and bystanders seeing me in such a state took me right back to that feeling of utter worthlessness. I've overcome a hell of a lot this year but equally my confidence is in tatters.

I'm feeling now like it'll never happen for me, but know that it takes lots of people a few attempts. So I'm wondering how many attempts it took you and if anyone else can relate to feeling like this / had a wobbly on test day

Update: I passed! 37+6 weeks pregnant - I think the examiner was more nervous than I was Grin

Well done LadyGregory!! Must be quite hard with a bump and hormones!

I drove my first ever school run today-DC said they were very proud of me! (didnt dare try the car park, I just parked on road beyond the school!). Nervous now as I have to go pick them up! EEk! Route-planning in my head!

I took three goes with quite a bit of gap between.

One of the tests the examiner had to slam his break on in the dual control car! BlushSo I knew I'd failed there and then.

When I passed it was probably because I went out in the car with my Dh a lot and tried to tell myself that the test was just another practice.

Also my top tip I told absolutely nobody I was taking it! (Obviously my instructor knew). Then, if I failed, I didn't need to tell anyone it had happened anyway! Then it was lovely telling Dh, dm, dsis etc!

I hit the kerb so hard on the way out of the test centre (so within 30 seconds of the test starting) that the wheel went up on the pavement 🙈🙈 I spent the whole test thinking 'this is going really well, shame I've already failed' and I then passed! Don't think the examiner thought it was very funny when I asked if she was taking the piss 😂😂

Moral of the story - if something goes wrong in the test, keep calm and carry on, it might not be as bad as u think!
