Vivid strong dreams...... what do they mean and how do I stop them!

Last night, was riding a weird roller-coaster on my tummy, had to go under really low bars which kept really hurting my back and pressing my face down so I couldn't breathe, then went down a massive, seemingly endless steep hill, still face first on my tummy (imagine sliding down a hill on your tummy in the snow), went faster and faster then so fast I shot off into the air going really high knowing I was going to die... then woke up drenched in sweat... I'm going through a horrid time at work, senior management, huge restructure, every move monitored, etc I know this is stress related but I keep having really vivid dreams like this which always result in my impending doom or me doing something that harms my children... How can I stop these!!??!!

How curious! Definitely not pregnant?

Dreams are our brains way of sorting things out in your mind, so I cannot see how you can stop them. But it does sound like you are maybe feeling out of control. Maybe cut out caffeine in the evenings, or alcohol if you do drink. You can find mindfulness meditation 10 minutes on the internet. That may help calm your mind before bed x

It's about fear. About what you fear most - i.e. something happening to your children, or fear of your future. As soon as the stressful time is over, the dreams should also become calmer, more what you are used to.
In times of stress I dreamt a lot about horrendous bloodsheds, explosions, wars, with rather beautiful and psychedelic themes which would put most horror films to shame. I wasn't afraid, just was watching them as a film. It all subsided when the bad times were over.

Some common medications can give you really weird dreams. Check the leaflets in any meds you have.

I constantly have vivid dreams/nightmares.
I could write a book about them.

The type does depend on my mood or what's going on. So if I am worried or stressed I tend to have horrid dreams involving the people on my mind.

If I am in a good place I have nice dreams.

My stress tends to come out as dreams about water or rough seas and drowning.

I once dreamt ( many many years ago) that the guy I was with at the time... his penis fell off in his hand.... I told him about it and he freaked out.... quite amusing when I think about it now.

Thinking about the roller coaster this could mean that you feel out of control of what is going on and that the outcome is not going to be good. I would recommend you try and gain some control on what you can and perhaps write your worries down and what you can do about them (even if it's nothing)

Check what you eat and drink before bed too. I found apples make e have vivid dreams.

I have always had vivid dreams, not often bad nightmares though, usually just really weird, usually if I look them up then it means something horrendous so I don't look them up anymore.

I also get sleep paralysis, which is very strange. I can hear what's happening in the room so am partly awake; but can't open my eyes or move for what seems like ages and I have to put mega effort into waking myself up, trying to force myself to move or make noise, which usually ends in me squeaking or something when I wake up!

Sounds like anxiety OP. Any time I've had this it has passed once the RL thing that's caused it has resolved.

I get dreams like this if I take prescripted co codomal in the evening. I even try to wake myself in my dream. It's horrible.
