Decided to do 4 times a week and I feel great when I do but really struggling with motivation today. How do others manage to convince themselves?

I’m going, and then on my way home I’m going to treat myself to a nice bottle of wine! 🍷🍷

NorthernRunner · 18/09/2018 15:33

You won’t regret going but you may regret staying in!

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 18/09/2018 15:34

You will feel soooo much better after you have been!

Mrsharrison · 18/09/2018 15:35

Yep you never regret going to the gym. But I have felt very guilty sitting on sofa watching Corrie and eating chocolate.

mommybear1 · 18/09/2018 15:35

Think about the lovely hot shower afterwards and something nice to eat guilt free

MrsJBaptiste · 18/09/2018 15:38

Well going as soon as you get up or on the way home from work helps (no time to back out) but otherwise just think how amazing you'll look in a few months if you keep it up for 4 times a week 😃

MinaPaws · 18/09/2018 15:38

It's not even that hard once you walk through the gym doors. Getting there's the hardest part. And technically, that's no harder than getting home.

Earslaps · 18/09/2018 15:39

You will always feel better after you go to the gym ignores awful muscle soreness after getting back to the gym yesterday.

Racecardriver · 18/09/2018 15:39

Well if you do go and do a proper work out then you can justify buying a tarimisu on the way home.

MMKMN · 18/09/2018 15:41

Get excited! Grin

What are you planning on doing at the gym?

I hate feeling like I have no motivation then realise the only reason I'm going is for myself and I actually want to go!

I'm going tonight, join in!

OurMiracle1106 · 18/09/2018 15:41

Think about that lovely restful guilt free sleep you achieve as a result of a gym session.

ConfessionsOfTeenageDramaQueen · 18/09/2018 15:43

I lie to myself. So just tell yourself all you need to do is go and you can just walk on the treadmill or do some stretches or basically an easy version of whatever you usually do. No pressure - just going is enough of an achievement. Once you're warmed up you'll probably end up pushing yourself a bit anyway.

ConfessionsOfTeenageDramaQueen · 18/09/2018 15:43

(The point is sometimes it's fine to have a "lazy" gym session - because once you stop going it's so hard to start again)

Neverender · 18/09/2018 15:46

I go 5 days a week and do yoga twice. I completely blank it from my mind, plan what I am going to do I.e. put gym kit on, trainers etc and then do it. Go on autopilot and you'll be there in your gear and have no choice! This is why the marketing of "Just do it" worked - don't think about it, " Just do it."

BusySittingDown · 18/09/2018 15:52

Just think how great you’ll feel afterwards!

I love that exhausted feeling after when you get home and you can just relax.

I’m going to the gym tonight. I don’t know what I’m going to do when I get there though! I did cardio yesterday so I feel like I should do weights but I’d rather do cardio. Confused

Almostfifty · 18/09/2018 15:59

Go! I went this morning and have spent the day like a whirlwind getting stuff done as I was so buoyed up after it.

LollyPopsApple · 18/09/2018 16:03

You’ll never have anything more valuable than your physical health. If you’ve not got that, you’ve got nothing. Prioritise and take care of it.

NorthernRunner · 18/09/2018 20:13

Did you go OP??
I’m on my way now 👍🏻
