Sorry not an AIBU but I dropped a full cup of tea on my foot and then my sock stuck to it so I've pulled off a bit of skin about the size of a 50p and have several other smaller blisters around it. It is killing like I can't believe a foot could hurt that much I'm waiting for 111 to ring me back but it could be 2 hours. Can i keep my foot in the bath for all that time as it's he only time it's not hurting? 111 said wrap it in a wet towel but the weight of towel is hurting too much.

Absolutely - and you should. Also take some ibuprofen (Not on an empty stomach) as it will help reduce inflammation. If you have had paracetamol, it is ok to take it anyway. (Unless the paracetamol contains another ant-inflammatory medication). Try and keep the water moving around your foot as it keeps the water from warming up to match the temperature of your burn. Poor thing. Sounds very painful!!!

My daughter spilled a cup of tea on herself earlier this year - A and E told us that 2 sessions of 20 mins under running cold water was good. Also, it doesn't matter if the hold under water is not immediate, as long as it is within 3 hours (I think!!!). Then cling film over it to prevent infection. The next day we went to the burns unit at Chelsea Westminster and they dressed it with gauze, and then on the final (3rd) dressing change they put Manuka honey on under the gauze. Anecdotally my old housemate burned her arm with leg wax and did the cling film and it's hardly scarred at all.

Not sure if this is only relevant for small children but make sure the rest of you is warm while holding yourself in cold water as your body temp can go down too much

Taxi and take 18 month old with you. They will view it as an adventure. or do you have neighbour etc to leave them with. Most people would be happy to help even if they wouldn't normally babysit.

Ouch iv done the same and scalded my foot like that. Had it dressed and debrided in hosp. The only over counter meds that helped was co-codamol. Hope you get sorted soon

Take some pain relief and run it under cold tap if you have a fan direct à fan on it and try to get to sleep as otherwise it will be unbearable

DP did similar and couldn't take it out of cold water without huge pain. What worked was keeping it in v cold water for a good few hours then smearing loads of honey over it and wrapping in cling film. Sorted it overnight.
I'd def go to hospital in morning if you've broken skin though

As a first aided, the best cause of action is to run it under cool water for at least 20 mins. If anything is stuck to it, do not remove or it can cause more pain. Any blisters should be left and not disturbed as bursting them can leave you open to infection. then unwrap the first 2 layers of cling film and wrap around the burn. Not tightly as the area may swell up. Partial thickness burns should always be seen by a health professional.

Aider not Aided
And course not cause!
Sorry for the typos

My DP burnt himself pretty badly once, we were advised by 111 to take him to hospital, he had his hand in a glass of water for 7 hours before he was seen. He couldn't take it out because it hurt too much if he did.
