My little boy has being diagnosed with viral infection few days ago, tonight whilst get him ready for bath noticed he is covered in red rash.
He been playing, laughing running around his normal self. Has not been eating well lately only wants cereal, yoghurt peaches or milk.
I am waiting for the on call GP to call back.
Anyone else experience this.? He does go to nursery 3 mornings a week and I asked them if there’s been any illness with any children they reported some babies have had high temperatures lately.

Could be post viral rash which is quite common

hellcam · 16/09/2018 21:48

Yep, post viral rashes are really common so not necessarily anything to worry about. But if you're concerned, do make sure you speak to the doctor.

SpeedbirdFoxtrot · 16/09/2018 21:50

Post viral rashes happen quite regularly, it’s deginitely a tad concerning when you’ve not seen one, but hopefully the GP will put your mind at ease!

When my two get a viral illness (usually the more temp/sickly ones) they usually get the rash at the end when they're almost recovered. The doctor told me you can usually tell a viral rash as the spots will be red with white around when you look close. It can be incredibly worrying at first but it's usually fine. Obv if you've done the glass test and are still worried go and see the gp when they're open Smile

I did the glass test the rash did not disappear. It is very worrying I am waiting for the GP to call.

If he seems more unwell it won't hurt him to see the GP. Post viral rash is very common in children.

If it's not blanching then definitely speak to a medical professional. Hope all goes well Thanks

themadhatterswench · 17/09/2018 08:38

Sorry I've just seen your reply @Cloudly how did it go? You were right to get help if the rash didn't fade under a glass, hoping little one is ok!

listsandbudgets · 17/09/2018 08:43

I had a non blanching rash a couple of years ago and A and E toom ut seriously enougj I was seen within less than 10 minutes of arriving

Took my little boy to GP this morning the rash had faded slightly, the GP said this can be normal from having a viral infection, will last 72 hours if it is still there by Wednesday to take him back to the surgery but his tongue was a bit white so the GP taken a swab. Thank you for all your advice was very worrying x
