Brentwood School / New Hall / St Marys Colchester for ASD

Does anyone have any experience of Brentwood School, New Hall School or St Marys in Colchester and whether they are ok with children with mild SN ?

My DD has ASD. No statement. She's at the milder end of the spectrum. She is average in class at her current primary school, but slow at completing work. Does not currently require any one to one support, but sometimes has attention problems hence the slow speed.

Any experience shared is appreciated.

You'll be lucky if you get responses with specifics op, unless people pm you. If I were you I'd be upfront with all schools, get appointments and ask the same questions of each... Then you can compare. Ask to see the SEN staff if possible too.

Good luck in your search, I know it's tricky.

Hi ST Mary’s Colchester is lovely: small class sizes and some subjects have sets which take into account ability and pace. Great pastorally. No personal experience of SN tho sorry. There's an open day on the 29th.

I'm not in your area at all, but I would second what @MissusGeneHunt advises. My DS has ASD (severe) and we went to see 3 schools: straight away we ruled out one of them as we didn't think they would be able to help our DS. Another was more of a feeling … just didn't feel completely happy with it. The 3rd was in a 'not so great' area, but the teacher was amazing, and the facilities fantastic. Try and meet whoever would be your child's teacher, and see which you think would best meet your DD's needs.

Sorry Piffle11. Ignore my last reference to 'MissusGeneHunt'. I'm taking some medication at the moment which is making my brain fuzzy and did not read your post properly.
