Pregnant with crippling headache

I'm 14 weeks pregnant with my third child. On Monday we went away for 5 days but I woke with a stiff neck I assumed fro sleeping awkwardly. Over the day it spread to my head and it has continued throughout the entire week. We are home now and it hasn't subsided, more just moved. Im able to still do things but in considerable pain.
Obviously I intend to call a doctor tomorrow but my Aibu is that I intend to wait however my partner is alarmedit could be sinister or a pregnancy problem. Aibu to wait for gp or is there a pregnancy headache situation I'm unaware of that could be more urgent?

I should add I've been reluctantly using paracetamol and it doesn't do much except take a slight edge off.
I'm currently in the bath holding the sore spot which eases the pain a bit Confused

I wouldn't wait if there is an out of hours or something. If it doesn't shift with paracetamol and lots of water then it COULD be a concern. But unlikely pregnancy related this early. Scary headache pregnancy issues usually arrive much later but you shouldn't suffer with it any longer really. Get checked and see if there is anything they can do. Take care OP.

I have no idea about an out of hours service around here but I'll see what I can find out.
Thankyou

Call the midwife and ask for advice. Or the out of hours number. Take care

comedycentral · 16/09/2018 11:06

Call the NHS 111 number and they will give you advice or let you know who you can call. They can also run a quick over the phone assessment.

Jaxtellerswife · 16/09/2018 11:55

Thanks, I have called and a nurse is going to call me back. I'm sure it's fine but I feel less guilty towards the baby as I've done something if that makes sense.

When i was 20 weeks pregnant I went through a 3 week phase of having shocking headaches all day every day. I googled it and some women had had the same and then it went away. Not sure if this helps at all - still definitely see a doctor in case it’s more serious, but just wanted to let you know if it’s nothing serious you’re not alone!

peachgreen · 16/09/2018 12:11

I had awful headaches from 15-18 weeks, like nothing I've ever experienced. I think it's quite common but I still think you're right to get it checked. The only thing that helped mine was full fat Coke, which I loathe!

TheArtfulScreamer · 16/09/2018 12:34

I'm also 14 weeks and I've been having headaches on and off for a few weeks and I don't normally get headaches. I had one that started on Thurs night and wouldn't shift but a bottle of coke yesterday saw it off.

Jaxtellerswife · 16/09/2018 13:18

They've called me back and said to go in so I'm getting ready now. Thanks for all the replies Thanks
I'm sure it's nothing to worry about but better safe for baby.

With my first d's I had dreadful headaches for weeks during the second trimester I had blood pressure and eye checks done but it was just one of those things. Fingers crossed it's the same for you but always best to get it checked

Jaxtellerswife · 16/09/2018 15:52

So after all that it's a neck spasm. To be fair he said it's extremely stiff but that it's easily to blame for the spreading head pain. Gave me some exercises, offered diazepam (😳I passed lol) and I've just had a very vigorous somewhat painful neck massage from the other half.
I'm glad it's totally non baby related, thanks for the advice everyone

So you didn't want to cut in to your holiday by getting it checked out while you were away , and now 6 days later it was so urgent it couldn't wait til tomorrow?
No wonder OOH is so busy and people with genuine urgent need cannot be seen promptly ! Angry

MorningsEleven · 16/09/2018 16:36

Good news, hope the rest of your pregnancy is uneventful Flowers

Jaxtellerswife · 16/09/2018 22:10

Oh hush up @FlipnTwist I didn't call an ambulance Hmm
No, I'm a non driver that was away with two toddlers at a holiday camp so could hardly pop off for medical help.
I called 111 after my partner was worried and after advice on here. They said to come in straight away so I did. And I don't feel one bit bad about checking up on things, I couldn't have sooner.
Besides it was a ghost town in there and going today meant not dragging my toddlers to the gp tomorrow which actually would be overflowing

And thankyou @MorningsEleven me too. I'll be glad when this stops though!
