Reasonable recovery time for eye op?

DH is having a lens replaced in his eye tomorrow. Very reputable surgeon, not concerned about that.

However he seems to think that he will be okay to get home tomorrow from central London (we are in the Home Counties) and then work and go on as usual virtually straight away. They have said he can drive the day after.

Has anyone had this op done? Looking for anecdotal evidence about recovery times. I've had a minor accident with my eye in the past and it was weeks before I was 100%.

Is DH being U or am I?

Both my DF and my DM have have surgery at Moorfields to repair detached retinas and travelled home on the day of op by train with no bother. Neither of them could drive for about 6 weeks but this is due to the nature of the injury and the time it takes the brain to adjust to depth perception etc, however they were warned about this pre-op. If the hospital has said he should be fine to drive I would take them at their word as they will see hundreds of similar cases frequently. Hope all goes well!

Thanks for coming back!

I just wanted to double check because I'm getting the info direct from DH, who thinks he's super human 😉

Sorry, but it depends. I've had both lenses replaced about 4 months apart. I was fine after 24 hours BUT...

I have a very high degree of astigmatism and I had a real problem getting my optician to get only one lens in my glasses replaced.

So, if he doesn't have this problem all should be well.

He's getting the other one done soon after and has contact lenses to tide him over.

Sorry you had such hassle. Hope all well now.

It's great thanks. All the best for tomorrow.
