Hi MN, not and aibu but need some advice.

My toddler has a bladder infection, she was prescribed a 7 day course of antibiotics.
She seems fine in herself but I am now worried as she hasn't had a wet nappy since 11am. Aibu to call 111? How long is too long to wait for her to pee?

Good idea to go to be on the safe side, as I think low urine output is a sign of sepsis - not saying she has this - but always best to check she’s ok.

Hope she does big wee soon

Panic over, she did a wee as I was changing her, ready to go to a&e. Sod's law and all. Thank you for the advice.

Great news!
You going to the ooh? Or going to see how she is?
After 24-48 hrs on antibiotics she should be starting to improve or at the very least, not be getting worse.

Did they send a sample when they gave you the antibiotics?
If so, it's worth checking the results to make sure she is on the right antibiotics

I'm going to see how she gets on, don't fancy taking all 3 kids to go to the ooh.

I gave a sample in on Friday morning and got a call from gp by midday, that's when she was prescribed the antibiotics.

She's settled down to sleep but if the past 2 nights are anything to go by, she will be up crying hysterically by 1am.

Ok, so they will have dip tested the sample and it will have shown positive for enough things to indicate infection.

The next thing they do is send it to the lad for further analysis where they culture (grow) the bacteria in the urine so they can identify it and see what antibiotics will work or what it is resistant to.

Worth a call on Monday to check the antibiotics are the right ones .

How did you get on overnight?

Foodylicious · 16/09/2018 07:12

*lab not lad Smile

She slept much better last night, compared to the previous nights. She's just not very happy now.
I will call the gp tomorrow morning, thanks for the help.

Keep a close eye on her, keep pushing fluids. You want to be seeing lots of wet nappies. Hopefully she'll turn a corner soon.
