To think you shouldn't reserve a swing at the park?

Currently in the park and there is a mum reserving a swing for her DD. If the girl wants to be on the swing then the mum hops off and the girl gets on. When the girl wants to play on something else the mum gets back on. Park is quite busy and only 3 swings.

Some boys (about 11 maybe) asked the mum to move so they could go on, she said no, she's saving it for her daughter.

Is that ok? It's been a while since I was in a park!

Am I the only one thinking about Mr Bean
where he keeps putting the baby back on the ride and there is a snaking queue of pissed off parentsGrin

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 13/09/2018 16:48

I'm kicking myself I didn't day something now! The boys seemed ok with it if not a bit put out but they still managed to finish thier game (a park based fortnite thing I think!)

I’d have got involved and asked her to move so other chikdren could use the swing

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 13/09/2018 16:51

Ah I diddnt think of doing that @SoupDragon!

I was in two minds as to if I should intervene, I diddnt know if this was a thing now in parks, it's been a while!

Hideandgo has the right idea. At and in front of her and keep looking at her till she moves. The woman is crazy.

agedknees · 13/09/2018 16:52

Take a pic and post on Facebook with the caption CF mother of the day.

EdisonLightBulb · 13/09/2018 16:54

I would tell her it's a children's swing and she isn't a child even if she is acting like one.

LightDrizzle · 13/09/2018 16:57

I’m disproportionately incensed! Angry

Canshopwillshop · 13/09/2018 17:00

That sort of thing really gives me the rage!

HappyHippy45 · 13/09/2018 17:00

Tell her she's too old to be on the swings. CFery at its finest.

1forAll74 · 13/09/2018 17:01

Ask the woman how old she is, but she won't tell you of course, as she sounds a bit thick and stupid. Then tell her never to come into the park again unless she accompanied by an adult. !

WindDoesNotBreakTheBendyTree · 13/09/2018 17:03

what a silly woman, and what dreadful parenting on her behalf

Mummyoflittledragon · 13/09/2018 17:07

If she’s like that in general, her child will be a joy to teach at school. How presumptuous. If she wants a private swing for her child, she needs to put one in her garden.

PassMeTheHaribosAmego · 13/09/2018 17:17

Omg , I'd tell her that her child looked like they were struggling on whatever equipment they were on , then when she moved to check jump on the swing myself

SaucyJack · 13/09/2018 17:18

When her daughter gets back on, stand in front of her far too close for the kid to be able to use it and tell the Mum you’re reserving that square foot of the playground for your own kid.

londonista · 13/09/2018 17:33

Please tell me this is not in London. If so, Londoners, I don't even know you any more...

yikesanotherbooboo · 13/09/2018 17:34

Obnoxious and a bit depressing.

Glaciferous · 13/09/2018 17:40

This is nuts. Of course it's not OK! If it happens again, stick up for the boys.

TriciaMcMillan · 13/09/2018 17:42

@LightDrizzle I’m disproportionately incensed!

This perfectly articulates how I feel about a significant proportion of things I read on the web. Smile

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 13/09/2018 18:56

@londonista not London but on the south coast if that makes you feel any better!

What a cow! I'd have stood up for the boys.
