Not to trust amazon reviews?

I left a 2 star review for a book saying it was good for a YouTuber but full of bad grammar & no literary great.
Amazon got in touch to tell me they wouldn't be publishing it & I've been banned from leaving anymore reviews!!!!
Wtf overreaction jeez.

I've had dozens of amazon reviews published without incident. They must have had some reason to suspect yours wasn't genuine or violated their guidelines.

Funnily enough, we were just talking about this at work today. The same thing happened to my friend. They wouldn’t publish her review either.
Hers was genuine and didn’t violate their guidelines.

I'm more inclined not to trust your version of events. What key points have you omitted?

Aprilsinparis · 12/09/2018 20:56

A review I made, wasn't published because I gave a very honest opinion, but I wasn't banned from leaving anymore reviews.

NeedMoreSleepOrSugar · 12/09/2018 20:59

Have you also left positive reviews for other items/books? I can see how someone only leaving negative reviews might look suspicious, even if they were genuine.

I've left probably hundreds of reviews over the years - not sure if I've ever left one star, but certainly several two star reviews and they've been published just like any other

If you go to www.fakespot.com/ it will tell you if an Amazon review is likely to be accurate or not.

My Dad had the same for saying the seller didn’t wrap the package properly. Didn’t seal the box at all.

Muddlingalongalone · 12/09/2018 21:17

I had the same - product arrived smashed. Apparantly my factual review was not acceptable!

Same as trip advisor. I left an accurate account of a terrible meal at a 5 star resturant and got abuse from the cook and review removed. Only has postives at this resturant. Ive left loads of the reviews mostly positive but havent bothered since. Think that my first ever total negative comment but the meal was awful and took 3 hours to serve cold wouldnt listen to complaints at the time and still charged for meal that couldnt be eaten.

I've posted negative reviews occasionally but never had one refused. If you're really annoyed, its easy to stray from the point - the item being reviewed - and start to criticise associated things, which will get your review booted.
