AIBU to think I'm 39 weeks not 35?

My baby has been measuring massive throughout pregnancy. At 33 weeks she had 37 week measurements. Before this pregnancy I was 3 weeks pregnant then had a bleed. I took one test which was negative. Then got pregnant again immediately. AIBU to wonder if I never actually miscarried and I'm further along than I and doctors think?

The tape measure measurement is a load of crap. I measured normal with my second pregnancy and ended up with an 11lb baby!

TheWinterofOurDiscountTentsMk2 · 12/09/2018 15:39

went for a reasurance scan as I had a bleed- expecting to be 6 weeks- and turned out to be 2 days off of 12 weeks. Which was 100% physically impossible for me to be that far on

What is 100% impossible is for a 6 week foetus to be dated as 11+ weeks on a scan. Not even slightly possible. You got your dates wrong.

chillpizza · 12/09/2018 17:41

The nhs couldn’t work out my dates there was a four week window, they picked seemingly a random date, at my scans the baby always measured at 3weeks behind the date they picked but still in the 4 week window. When the baby was born over due the Midwife’s commented that she looked/acted more like a 37weeker. Still completely covered in vernix head to toe extremely small for being “over due” or like my other babies and my other children for statistics purposes all a few days within due date 1oz difference weight wise no vernix, that baby certainly was an anomaly.

FrangipaniBlue · 12/09/2018 17:49

I was told at around 34/35wks to expect a 10lb+ baby because DS was measuring almost full term size alreadyConfused

I won't lie, I went home and cried and stressed about it.

They were completely and utterly wrong.

He was born at 39+2 weighing 7lb.

OliveOrTwist · 12/09/2018 17:56

The consultant herself told me the scans aren't accurate and are to be used as a guide only. She said that the baby moving at the wrong time can throw the measurements out and a couple of mm can make a big difference.

We saw this ourselves on my last growth scan at 38 weeks. Measured baby at 8lb 13oz. I said surely not. She measured again and "got better measurements", estimated 8lb6oz. So we had 7oz difference within 3 mins. Riduculous

Another one here for whom the scans weren’t accurate. I had a scan the day before my daughter was born, which indicated she was bang on 50th percentile. And she was born the following day weighing on the 9th.

StressedToTheMaxx · 12/09/2018 20:49

TheWinter I was a virgin before hand, had sex once so I knew the exact date, so unless I have birth to Jesus I was 100% dated wrong.
Nice to know you know my body better though

TheWinterofOurDiscountTentsMk2 · 12/09/2018 22:47

I know science better. I don't want to know about your sex life but I can assure you that a 6 week foetus and a 11+ week foetus don't look even slightly alike and unless you accidentally got the cleaning lady to do your scan, the dates were not wrong to anything like that extent.
It's like claiming your 15 year old is actually 9, that's how ridiculous the notion is.

TheWinterofOurDiscountTentsMk2 · 12/09/2018 22:56

You can look here and see.
6 weeks its about the size of a lentil. 11 weeks its the size of a fig. That's EIGHT TIMES the size, by the way.

If you are seriously suggesting there is an ultrasound technician and/or doctors that can mistake a tiny 6 week foetus for an 8 times the size 11 week and more foetus, I assume you reported them to every professional body possible?

My growth scans from the 3rd trimester were wrong too

PuntCuffin · 12/09/2018 23:03

I remain convinced that I was dated wrong by about 4-5 weeks.

I was told I was due in early October, which would have meant conceiving while DH was away for several weeks with work, and I have never cheated, so I knew that wasn't possible.

I then had DS in mid Sept, weighing 7lb4oz, allegedly 3 weeks early. He promptly dropped off the bottom of the growth charts, where he has remained ever since, suggesting that his supposedly early birthweight was higher than it should have been and that he was actually overdue, which would fit with likely conception date.

I know that it shouldn't happen based on early foetal development etc. But when you know you could not have conceived in line with supposed due date, something has gone wrong somewhere.

Duskqueen · 13/09/2018 00:01

I really not sure in your situation, could you ask you midwife? I had gestational diabetes with my DD and was told I was going to have a big baby as she was measuring large and due to measurements they estimated her to be at least 7lbs, this was at my last scan at about 36 weeks and went into labour naturally at 37+6 just a few days before my next scan and she was tiny, 52cm and 6lbs 4oz.
I had a couple.of extra scans due to reduced movement with my DS, they never said anything about his size and that my waters were normal, when they broke my waters at 37+4 after 24 hours with a pessary, I literally flooded the bed as I had too much water and he was 1cm bigger than my DD and was 6lbs 10oz.
You might all just be slightly out or you could just be having a big baby.

Fruitbatdancer · 13/09/2018 00:09

Another one here with incorrect scans. I was told baby so massive (off chart) at 37 weeks I was induced at 38 weeks. They said baby already over 10lb and would be over 11lb full term. He was 7lb 4oz!

TheDarkPassenger · 13/09/2018 01:19

Mine was opposite to everyone else’s in that I was having scans for measuring small. Considering I found out late and had therefore smoked my way through my first trimester unknowingly, I expected a small baby tbh.
Weekly scans told me she was gunna be tiny.

Born two weeks early at 9lb.. thank the lord she was early! (All healthy btw)

Growth scans mean nothing and this sounds like your typical pregnancy anxiety, which is completely normal btw! I honestly wouldn’t worry cos you will know soon enough, and then you’ll blink and they’ll start school and you can’t even remember being pregnant Grin
