To think it's weird to being a child on a hen do?

I was on a hen do at the weekend that started early afternoon and into the wee small hours (though I only lasted til 10pm!) and there was a little girl there, the bride's family member's (who was also there) daughter and she was still there in the restaurant when I left. She came to all the pubs with us beforehand. She'd be maybe 9 or 10. That's weird right? It changed the group dynamic for sure.

Different!

There was a thread a while ago when i cf brought her young child and bf on the hen. Consensus was she was a cf

Cant imagine it would be appropriate to bring a young child to a hen

FilledSoda · 10/09/2018 20:39

Poor kid .
The pubs didn't object ?
Yes very weird

ThreeAnkleBiters · 10/09/2018 20:41

Yes very weird, can't have been much fun for the girl to be dragged round all day and it would obviously make everyone else change the way they behaved. (No one is going to be drunk and raucous around a child).

ConsiderHerWaysAndOthers · 10/09/2018 20:41

Definitely not normal and not on to bring your child unless the bride had specifically asked for her to attend (which would be odd in itself).

GunpowderGelatine · 10/09/2018 20:42

Theweasley I'd kind of get that if it was absolutely the only way the woman could go (although TBH i would personally just stay home!) and if it was tiny enough to sleep through the meal but this child was older and her mum and dad are together, it didn't really come up why he wasn't watching her. Aside from spoiling it for the other 'hens' I just don't think I'd want my daughter in pubs for 9 hours at that age

Don’t think it’s great for a 9 year old to be in the pub! One of my friends brought her 8 year old bridesmaid for part of the hen do! A chocolate factory visit! Now that was appropriate

Dippysnowoman · 10/09/2018 21:01

Last hen weekend i went on the bride's 13 yr old niece came. Def changed the dynamics, found it strange to be fair.

WrongKindOfFace · 10/09/2018 21:21

That’s unusual.

I’m not a hen night fan and usually pull the lack of childcare card to get out of them. Don’t be ruining it for me!

SoozC · 10/09/2018 21:33

My hen do was in the day and was to a well-known attraction in fancy dress. My two young bridesmaids, about 8-9 years old, came along. After a late lunch everyone went home. We all had a great time! I was never going to be someone who wanted a night in a pub with willy straws and drinking, so I feel it was appropriate.

Definitely weird to have a younger girl at an evening hen in a pub. Surely she'd be bored?
