To ask slimming world ideas?

Help! All you great somewhat motivated people that at least try to eat a bit healthier, I'm in dire need of some slimming world type breakfast/ lunch ideas. Really need to try get back into it

What's the key with slimming world, organization? I know it'll work if I just stick to it but sticking to it's the problem.

I love to cook so that's no issue but I'm in work for 9am every morning and home for 6pm so I need something I could maybe prepare the night before or make quickly in the morning...

Your slimming world breakfast/lunches? Even dinners?

OP there is a SW subsection in the weight loss section.
The key thing is to plan when to use your HEB. I work FT too. If I have soup and a small sandwich (HEB) for lunch, then breakfast is just fruit and yoghurt. If I have porridge for breakfast (HEB) then lunch is a baked potato with a filling and salad or leftovers from the previous nights dinner or chicken or pasta salad. I’m a terrible lush so tend to keep most of my syns for wine. If I didn’t do this there would be more flexibility. Doesn’t seem much point posting up recipes here. There are thousands on the internet. Good luck! It’s a terribly boring answer, but yes, planning in advance and batch cooking really helps. It’s not a diet that works grabbing stuff on the go to be honest.

nikkylou · 09/09/2018 20:52

I'm a little a lot off the bandwagon at them moment, I'll be honest.
I was terrible at breakfast, as well end of disclaimer
Overnight oats, which are your HexB, yoghurt and fruits in a mason jar, as the name suggests, left overnight.
You can have toast, and use soft cheese as some of your HexA choice or some normal cheese.
Baked oats is a thing though I've never tried it, that make breakfast biscuit thing.
Egg muffins which is egg beaten and baked in the oven with omelette style fillings like ham or tomatoes, so they're like little mini egg cakes and easy to warm and eat.

babysharksmummy · 09/09/2018 20:56

I started last week. Weigh in tomorrow.
(not synned my wine tho, oops!)
I've been having omelette with Hexa Feta cheese and spinach, keeps me full until lunch.
Lunch is usually an Iceland ready meal or naked noodle if on the go, if at home then some form of meat/fish and veg but if you are used to sandwiches you can use your hexb and lots of free fillings.
People like soup but I really don't personally.

Fluffyears · 09/09/2018 20:59

A great website with tons of recipes is ‘pinchofnom’ I love using it to find ideas. Look at the hunters chicken it’s lush.

Zoflorabore · 09/09/2018 21:03

If you are on Facebook there is a slimming world unofficial ideas page called nom nom.

People just share their ideas and it's great.

My ds is 15 and has always been overweight but we started slimming world together on 1st February this year.
He's lost almost 5 stones in 7 months and I've lost 3.

Planning is key. Know what you're having on Tuesday night for example. Use the apps, buy the slimming world magazine and above all- experiment!

Any questions I would be happy to answer.

Bimgy85 · 09/09/2018 21:06

Oh yes are those naked noodles okay to eat? Got two from Iceland today, katsu curry rice and Singapore noodle.

I find it hard to exactly track my hex a and hex b and syns. For example if I put butter in my mash I'm like 'oh yeah I can just syn' without rounding it to an actual number...

Maybe some homemade soup for lunch tomorrow with a sandwich? Breakfast lunch and dinner I can do fine it's snacking I struggle with!!

Zoflorabore · 09/09/2018 21:06

Ps- ds loves some of the Iceland slimming world meals and they're great to have in as a back up.
We eat lots of omelettes/pasta/jacket potatoes/chicken/gammon/salad/veg/rice and muller lights.

babysharksmummy · 09/09/2018 21:16

They are syns but very few.
If you're going to group you can check on the app.
The ones you have bought are 2 each - just checked my app Smile

babysharksmummy · 09/09/2018 21:17

I'm a snacker too. Fruit, deli meat, save your B and have two hifi bars, then 15 syns to use on lovely chocolate Grin

Shootfirstaskquestionslater · 09/09/2018 21:19

I always do overnight oats with muller light and put fruit on it in the morning have your tried the slimming world meals they are really nice and don’t take long to cook best thing is they are all completely free they do soups as well which are good for this time of year. Good luck op.

Jengnr · 09/09/2018 21:23

Speed food omelette for breakfast. Or fruit and yogurt.

Get a soupmaker, chuck a load of speed veg in it with a stock cube and water (I buy those soup packs for £1, chuck the parsnip and add a courgette) will make dinner for a week
Grilled meat, veg and bulgur wheat for tea.

Batch cook some recipes and freeze.

The free and easy book is great too.

Jengnr · 09/09/2018 21:24

I have 350ml skimmed milk for HEXA as I can’t live without brews and 2xAlpen bars as HEXB. 2.5 stone down and counting.

Zoflorabore · 09/09/2018 21:27

We do the same as babyshark- snack on deli meat, mostly chicken breast plain or tikka, yoghurts and fruit and use the 2 hifi bars and save our syns for chocolate.

The best ones syn wise are maltesers ( big bag 10 syns, snack size 4.5 ) Freddo and Milky Way 5 syns and curly wurly ( lovely put in the freezer )

Some of the new muller lights are fab, Bakewell tart and coconut especially.

I buy all of our wholewheat pasta at Lidl and their micro rice is cheap as chips in loads of flavours. If pushed for time the ready baked jacket potatoes are only 1 syn each, I love them. We also buy cadburys diet hot chocolate which I think is 1 syn and have swopped bread to kingsmill whole meal thins which are the ones approved on the plan.
There is so much choice out there. The secret is not to stick to the same food all the time ( I'm looking at you ds ) so I took him food shopping after school on Friday to get some different foods.
We use the free branded food 2018 guide which covers all supermarkets and major brands and is under £2.

Bimgy85 · 09/09/2018 21:36

The egg muffins are a fantastic idea, thanks. I never even knew I could have those no problem Grin have a huge batch of tomato soup on at the moment with all frozen veg. Think I'm gonna throw together those egg muffins and have one for breakfast, are they completely free?

OP posts:
Bimgy85 · 09/09/2018 21:37

Can I eat the egg muffins the next day?

Augustlou30 · 09/09/2018 21:48

So many amazing Instagram and YouTube SW accounts with lots of ideas Nd motivation. Xxx

nikkylou · 10/09/2018 09:47

Depending on what you put in, yes egg muffins are free. You can eat them the next day, but I like to warm them a little as cold egg isn't amazing...
With the healthy extra A and B tracking isn't too hard. The B choice has lots of portion quantities that don't need weighing like hifi bars etc.
With the A choice some people like to have a milk jug in the fridge for the day, so when it's gone it's gone. Really makes you think how much you use in a tea!
're. Butter in mash etc. Get measuring spoons if you don't already, they'll really help. Remember if you put 4 spoons in though, and then serve 4 equal portions that you don't still have to syn all 4, just what you have - so 1 spoon.
One of the dry nandos rubs is about 4/5 syns but covers a whole chicken, so a portion is about a syn.
Basically keep track of how many total syns you are adding to a dish, then divide by the number of equal portions.

Bimgy85 · 10/09/2018 14:21

PoxAlert · 10/09/2018 14:24

I've lost just over 3 stone on SW this year.

My work day breakfast is basically always the same.

I don;t eat before I get to the office.

Then as soon as I get in at 9 I have a hifi bar with my coffee.

Which means I can stave off eating for an hour or so when I then have fruit (normal strawberries, raspberries, apple and blueberries which I cut up before work) with yogurt or fruit flavoured quark.

That in turn then means I don;t need my lunch until 1-2pm so I then can wait more happily for dinner in the evening.

Blailewi · 20/09/2018 00:23

Starting slimming world tomorrow 🙈 feeling so embarrassed as I've put on a lot of weight! Got about 3 stone to lose 😢😢 xx
