to think social work would inform the other parent?

Without giving much away about circumstances, my partner has been given reason to believe that there may be social work involvement with his DD. To be clear, he has nothing against support if it's what the mum needs but is doubting the information as he thinks he would surely be informed.

Is this right? Would social work tell the non-resident parent if they had to get involved with their child? If it makes a difference, he is and always has been very involved with his DD, has weekly overnight contact, does school pick ups + the school have all his contact details etc.

Yes I imagine he would, He could always contact the duty social worker and ask if they need to talk to him

I had to ask SS not to send info to my ex when we had their involvement - he was NC with my DD but they still wanted to send him info as he had PR. If your DP is actively involved it seems strange he isn't being kept up to speed. If he calls them he should be able to get info

They should contact the other parent, if the other parent has PR, but they don't always do this.

Maybe there has been a referral made, they made brief enquiries (this can sometimes just be a telephone call) and don't see any role for them. Or a referral was made and it didn't meet the threshold for any action from them at all. The next stage would usually be a full assessment which would need to involve him or it wouldn't be a very good assessment. It may be that they are not rushing due a backlog. My advice would be for him to phone children's social care and ask.

If he has PR then yes he has a right to be told but without PR, the mother has the right to say no to him being informed.

Thanks for the replies everyone. He does have PR but it's interesting Pissedoffdotcom says she was able to request her ex wasn't told (although it's obviously a different situation if he was NC). Seems like it will be worth a call to check out what's happening and hopefully we're worrying about nothing.
