I can hear him singing Wonderwall in his room for some reason. And he knows every word. Everything I recommend is CRINGE, he can't go out in public with me unless the planets are correctly aligned and I am so unfair, but somehow I have produced a teen with taste.

If I can be proud of dgd(3) for singing a verse of The Wheels On The Bus, you can be proud of your DS for 'Wonderwall'! Now, play him something decent and see if he really has taste Grin

dancemom · 09/09/2018 21:43

I felt the same when I walked into my kitchen to see dd twerking to Missy Elliott

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 09/09/2018 21:46

Oasis are shite, you should delete this thread and punish your child by making them stay indoors until they have found some better music to listen to. FFS they have youtube, it cannot be that hard.

sue51 · 09/09/2018 21:47

I hear you op. I remember I welled up inside when DD aged 4 sang along to Joni Mitchell.

Ethylred · 09/09/2018 21:51

This is so much better than most threads here, thank you OP.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 09/09/2018 21:51

DD used to be word perfect to a lot of Iron Maiden. There's a lot to be said for driving along the Cote d'Azur while a seven year old goes "YA SOUL'S GONNA BURN A LAKE OF FIIYAAAHH!".

PhilomenaButterfly · 09/09/2018 21:56

Love Manu Chao drspouse.

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 09/09/2018 22:00

If we're going to brag my 3 year old dd sings along to Talk Dirty. She doesn't quite get the words yet Grin

PhilomenaButterfly · 09/09/2018 22:01

Excellent taste there Disgrace. 👍

PhilomenaButterfly · 09/09/2018 22:03

We listen to a lot of The Arrow rock radio. DS2 singing along to Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll: "Say, say, say, say, rock and roll". 😂😂😂😂😂😂

RibbonAurora · 09/09/2018 22:10

Lovely thread topic OP whether people like Oasis or not.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome my DS2 gave me a proud Iron Maiden moment too. I had wondered if there might have been some maternity ward confusion for a while there since his musical tastes were a bit questionable up until the age of 11 then he came home from school one day clutching Rock in Rio, a cd he'd borrowed from a friend. I may have shed a misty tear or two before pointing out that the exact same album was to be found on the cd racks holding my collection in the dining room.

twattymctwatterson · 09/09/2018 22:26

Wonderwall?! Your definition of taste and mine are wildly different

Novasglow · 09/09/2018 22:39

My 6 year old DD loves to sing in bed. She can go from the current charts to Motley Crue and Rammstein. Never Oasis though, thankfully Grin

Novasglow · 09/09/2018 22:40

Rock in Rio made me grin, up the irons! Grin

SuckOnTHATRyan · 09/09/2018 22:41

Ugh Wonderwall? I’d be mortified!

IGiorni · 09/09/2018 22:46

YANBU. My DS is 8 and recently had a conversation with a waiter in the Hard Rock Cafe about their favourite Nirvana songs. Said waiter put a song on for him and DS sang along word-perfect. He’s much cooler than me.

PhilomenaButterfly · 09/09/2018 22:50

Oh, and DD used to scream a punk version of Monster by The Automatic.

TheBigFatMermaid · 09/09/2018 22:52

My proudest musical moment was when we were driving around, temporarily mislaid on holiday. DD, then age 2 and a half suddenly piped up as a CD ended 'Put Leatmoaf on Mummy, I want Leatmoaf (Meatloaf)'.

She is 23 now and still loves Leatmoaf!

It's a great feeling when our DC, who largely hold us in disdain, actually like something we like.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 09/09/2018 22:54

my proudest parenting moment was when we all sang along to 'Billericay Dickie' and they knew it word-for-word...

(oh golly oh gosh/come lie on the couch/with a nice bit of posh/from Burnham on Crouch..)

user1483390742 · 09/09/2018 22:55

My DTeen is now listening to BBC6 Radio and Radio X by choice..surely that trumps y'all?!?!! GrinGrin

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 09/09/2018 22:58

My ds is 10

He can play Sunshine of Your Love by Cream on the drums

How cool is that Grin

Sorry if I have trumped you up I couldn’t resist
