To ask you about my lump?

I had my second c section about 15 months ago. First one was ropey emcs but this one was elective and fine. Healed fine, no issues.

Last month I was cleaning out a cupboard and when I went to bed that night my scar was very sore on the left hand side. Didn’t feel right at all. I assumed I’d pulled a muscle. Next day I noticed when I pressed that side I could feel quite a solid lump. Just above my scar at the left side, quite near my hip bone.

Went to the doctor who was pretty rubbish. She had a feel around and said “it’s probably an infection”. Gave me a course of amoxicillin which did nothing. After a couple of weeks it was still a bit tender but it had calmed right down so I just left it.

Yesterday I started my period and the lump and pain are back with a vengeance. Thinking about it, I had my period the last time as well so it’s clearly connected. It’s much more painful this time. I can’t see the lump but I can feel it.

I’m going to go back to the doctor tomorrow but I was just wondering if anyone had any idea what this could be. I’m quite worried about it. I have two kids under four and I can’t afford to be unwell Confused

small Hernia ?

MagnaDoodle · 09/09/2018 15:52

I wondered that but the GP didn’t seem to think so. I dunno why. She wasn’t exactly the talkative type 🙄

something to read. Not saying it is. - www.healthline.com/health/pregnancy/endometriosis-after-cesarean#symptoms

MorningsEleven · 09/09/2018 15:56

Is it maybe a bit of endometriosis do you think?

Mine was misdiagnosed as IBS.

TheMaddHugger · 09/09/2018 15:57

something else to read. Gives lots of options of what it may be.

My mind did go straight to endometriosis. But that's only because I was riddled with it.

Hernia was my second thought

(((((Hugs)))))

MagnaDoodle · 09/09/2018 16:00

Wow thank you! It does sound like endometriosis although it says it’s very rare?

What does that mean, endometriosis? Is that bad?

I was worried about lumps = cancer so I haven’t really worried about what else it could be

Thing is my periods are ok. I mean they hurt and they’re pretty heavy but they aren’t awful

It's where the lining of the Uterus grows in other places other then the uterus.
My treatment was while 'trying' to have kids was to have them go in and 'burn off' the endo.

This was 30 + years ago. methods have gotten better. Way Way better

  • by 'trying' i also had PCOS. yeah Need sleep, its 12.30 here in Oz.

I have something very similar, had a c section 3 years ago and at earlier this year I noticed a painful lump in exactly the same position as you describe.

I have been for 3 separate ultrasound scans over the course of the year and the 3 doctors I have seen have all concluded that it is hardened area of scar tissue that has built up at the end of my scar.

So nothing serious, but I still have occasional pain.

HellnoH2O · 09/09/2018 16:13

I’m not saying this is definitely what you have, but could be something to look into...?

MagnaDoodle · 09/09/2018 16:49

Thanks Hellno

Do you find it gets worse or more tender around your period?

HellnoH2O · 09/09/2018 16:55

I haven’t noticed that my period effects it but it seems to get more painful if I do any heavy lifting / carrying dd around a lot. Like with yours the lump isn’t visible but I can feel it if I push on the area.

MagnaDoodle · 09/09/2018 17:05

Yeah it sounds similar
