QQ, is it the buyer or seller's responsibility to chase Royal Mail re delivery? Seller has proof of postage but wants to send it to me as the buyer to chase up with RM. It's her responsibility yes?

I think it is the responsibility of the seller.

You could try posting in the eBay part, you may get more answers Smile

If she has proof of delivery then as far as Ebay is concerned you will have to chase it with the Royal Mail.

I am a business seller on Ebay and it's absolutely shocking how many people falsify item not received cases so they get a full refund. I switched to 24/48 service as they all come with proof of delivery and that usually shuts the chancers up. If someone was still adamant that it hasn't arrived then I would chase for them (as the chancers usually back down when they realise they're not getting a refund, it magically appears in their sheds for example) as I'd assume they were genuine. But it just gets passed to the buyers local delivery office who asks the postman and in almost all cases they have said it was delivered. So she may just be trying to cut out the middle man by asking you to do this yourself. If it's not been found then I will obviously resend or refund at my own expense but that has hardly ever happened.

It also depends if she is a business or private seller, as private ones don't have responsibility for the goods til they are received unlike business sellers. That said though there are tonnes of business sellers posing as private ones to try and get around these rules!

She has proof of postage but not delivery as I certainly haven't received my purchase! And it's not a tracked service, just a receipt when it was handed over into the system. But from what you're saying it is apparently my problem anyway though?

If the seller only has proof of postage, not proof of delivery, PayPal will find in your favour if you put in a claim with them.

The seller has the contract with the Post Office, not you. What they should do in these circumstances is refund you and claim their losses from the PO themselves.

No its not your problem. Put in an 'item not received' claim and get your money back.
