To be feeling a bit emotional

Since my ds started school?

Not in a pfb type way,he's ready for it,he's a confident happy little boy so no worries there it's just I've been a sahm since he was born and now I haven't got got him with me in the daytime I feel unsure what my role is now iyswim.

I'm actively looking for part time jobs and I'm keeping myself busy it's just so weird being alone for most of the working day.Sorry for rambling hopefully someone will come along and tell me to get a grip.

Oh my goodness, it's so hard.
My eldest just started Sixth Form and my youngest is off to reception tomorrow.
Nursery was hard enough for me emotionally but it was 3 hours per morning and a skip around the corner.
I am just like you, not worried about DS coping. I think he'll be delighted. But he's my last little birdie flying the nest. No more little kiddies at home with me. It's just me, the dog, the cat, and the guinea pigs now. And like you, I'm applying for jobs.
I've been so used to one child starting school and having another one with me at home. I feel a bit lost now.
You don't need to get a grip. There are so many endings and beginnings with our kiddies. I try not to focus on the endings and really hone in on their new journeys, which are very exciting for them. It helps that kids are so ever-present and not too reflective. They're always in the 'now'. I'm the one still looking at DD's nursery photo from 4 years ago on her bedroom wall and feeling nostalgic. She doesn't even remember the names of the kids in her class. I do though. Confused
Grin
Big empathy hugs! And best of luck to your little one!!!

Flowers DS is in year 2 now and I miss him at the start of the year. It gets easier. I only work 2.5 days but I manage to fill the other 2 with bits and pieces.

I work full time (I'm a teacher) but every start of the school year, and after Christmas holidays, I feel that "wrench" of not spending time with the DC. I'd say your feelings are entirely justified, OP, don't worry.

Good luck with your job search!
