At least I think that's what it is- I'm awaiting a date for a scan. Currently struggling to type this as I am in absolute agony. Taken paracetamol but it's not touching it. Have had a few nights like this- hence the pending ultrasound- but tonight I'm in agony. Help!

Sympathy OP. It’s the worst pain. Hot water bottles and hot showers eased it for me. But please call NHS 24 as you may need medical assistance (it can get quite nasty). Watch your pee isn’t too dark or your skin turns yellow; these are signs of jaundice

Sympathy OP. Absolutely the worst pain ever. Worse than Labour.
Trying to modify diet helps a bit but ibhavr attacks out of the blue.
I had a concoction of meds from my GP strong cocodamol, a drug for acid called omeprazole and buscopan . I used to take them all and NOT eat just sips clear fluid.
Since I had it out I haven't had to take a single tablet
Push for surgery ASAP.

Thanks all. Doc has given me high dose Codine and Naproxen. Pain far better today as is usually the way. I'm going to ring my own doctor in the morning and chase the ultrasound.

I had vomiting for two weeks before being rushed to hospital in unbearable pain. It was too infected to remove via keyhole, pancreas and liver were also infected. They left it for 4 weeks to reduce the infection, after a week in hospital in IV antibiotics. Fat is the worst thing, I managed to get down to less than 5g a day and the pain almost went (although I was on 5 types of medication.) It is excruciating pain, you have my sympathy.

I have had problems since last Christmas with gallstones (identified 5 years ago by scan). Unfortunately my attacks are intense but short and there's not point in driving the 30mins to A&E as the attacks are almost over by then.

I had an MRi a couple of weeks ago and I'm due to be operated on quicker than the routine 8 week wait. My liver function tests are all really, really high (like 20x above normal - last Ggt was 1000+) and I have signs and symptoms of jaundice if I have a couple of attack within a few days of each other.

I now take Tramadol 50mg 4 x daily, as well as Buscopan and Paracetamol. It doesn't stop the attacks but makes them more bearable. I can't wait until this is over.

With kidney stones I ran out of pain relief before they'd passed from the kidney and couldn't bring myself to go back down the hospital so I lay in a hot bath for basically a whole day and it alleviated it a little bit

Have been told that it has a similar effect with gall stones, don't know the mechanics of it though

I slept in the bath, it was the only way to get through the night!

Glad you've been seen. Buscopan really helped me. Cut out all fats, alcohol, chocolate for now.

Liver salts help me, the relief of burping seems to help.
