To give away my cat and my husband

Bloody cat jumped on the countertop to catch a fly and knocked over the deep fryer spilling over a litre of oil on my kitchen floor Angry.
Deep fryer wasn't meant to be on the countertop as it's broken and I had asked husband to put it outside two days ago, yes I could've done it but when I asked him I was busy doing something so then when he hadn't done it due to laziness I decided to leave it until he did it.
I've ruined two towels mopping it up and used a bottle of washing up liquid on it and it's still stinky and slippy.Sad

Use the cat to mop up the excess oil?

chickedychicked · 07/09/2018 19:48

keyboardkate Dcat and I will survive, we'll see about DH.Wink.
I've put some washing powder down and then next will be the salt but honestly its made the whole house stink. I hate the smell of frying foods as it is.

LTBC Grin

Best plan I've heard all day.

sueelleker · 07/09/2018 19:56

I'd get an air-fryer if I were you-I got sick of cleaning oil, and asked for one last Christmas. It's brilliant.

bsbabas · 07/09/2018 20:12

Don't put the tea towels in the washing machine I did with some other clothes and the washing machine and the other clothes smelt weird for a couple of washes

Saggital · 07/09/2018 20:16

If it’s not too late may I suggest getting him neutered? The cat on the other hand will be fine.

MissConductUS · 07/09/2018 20:20

Put DC in charge of DH. Grin

Stuff like this just happens when you have feline overlords cats. Mine like to knock over plants and cut flowers in vases.

chickedychicked · 07/09/2018 20:31

bsbabas I won't be putting the towels in the washing machine as we've just had it fixed due to the fact that it kept leaving an oily residue on clothing after washing Confused.
I have grease problems in all areas of life it seems.
saggital Grin not a bad idea.
He's home now, he came in with a snickers for me (i dont even like snickers) and asked if I'd managed to clean it all. I took the chocolate and ignored the question.
He's now gone to put the DC to bed.

Send DCat out for the shopping in future - obviously far more efficient than DH given that he's 1 for 1 on fly removal. Seriously cute lad too.

Singlenotsingle · 08/09/2018 09:37

I banned dp from doing the shopping, either with me or on his own! Confused

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 08/09/2018 09:38

Keep the cat, put the husband outside. If you're lucky, one of the neighbours will start feeding him and he won't come back.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/09/2018 10:01

If you put salt on the oil , don't forget to throw some over your left shoulder when your DH is bending over you to see what you're doing Wink

dementedpixie · 08/09/2018 10:08

I agree with putting something dry on top to absorb the oil (same as when egg is dropped on the floor) e.g. Flour, salt, maybe even cat litter if you have any. Maybe use a paste made with bicarb or the washing powder to get the oil residue of the floor

amusedbush · 08/09/2018 10:10

He's home now, he came in with a snickers for me

For a second I thought you meant the cat brought you a Snickers and I was very impressed by his hunting skills Grin
