To not buy my Mum a b'day present

We are meeting tomorrow, it was her birthday in the week (mid-70s). She emailed saying she doesn't want presents, just a lovely family day, and to buy her lunch.

I thought I was cool with that, and didn't buy anything (posted a card to arrive on the right day!) but now I'm panicking. What if she doesn't really mean it and is going to be disappointed?

Could you take some
Flowers with you and Mention that lunch is in you as part of her birthday treat?

What about some flowers, or chocolates and a photo frame. Then take a photo during your lunch or in a park nearby to be printed and put in the photo frame. Also insist on paying for lunch

Why would she say it and not mean it ?
My mums said this to me before. I’ve taken her out for the day(lunch/dinner) and she’s loved it.
