its my husbands 40th next october. his history of ill health is in my previous threads. we would really like to go on a cruise and want to book it soon and pay it off monthly. however just told daughter who has just started year 10 and she has just burst into tears saying its an important school year etc not the reaction i was expecting! i feel he deserves this and would really like him to be away on his actual birthday the 18th. would it be awful to be off school for a week? she will see some amazing places that could come under history!

Wait until after the exams when she will be able to relax and enjoy it!

Please don’t. Or if you do, don’t then moan when she’s behind / misses something / doesn’t understand

Can you go without your DD? She stays with a friend for the week or whatever?

You really can't I'm afraid. People do it though. My daughter's friend went away Feb half term and he had to write a 300 word essay as to why he should be allowed to go away during term time in year 11 and give it to the headteacher.
