To wonder how people cope when they're too disabled to be fully mobile, but not disabled enough to claim PIP?

Just wondering really.

I have degenerative disk disease, I take gabapentin for associated sciatica and back pain and ibuprofen and do the best I can to get on despite the chronic pain i'm constantly in.

I have days I can barely walk, and need a stick or a crutch to get around. Then there are days i'm quite mobile and can take the dog for a gentle stroll around the church yard, although I cant do it in one go, I have to sit down and rest on several occasions on the benches dotted around.

There are days like today.. I had a busy day yesterday, was on my feet a fair amount, schools runs (lots of driving) in and out of the car, in and out of shops.. never walking long or far, lots of rests between... by the end of the day I was in so much pain I was literally crawling around the house if I had to walk anywhere. Today i'm in much the same state and other than the school run, I literally cannot do much other than shuffle around my house.

I was talking to a friend and they suggested applying for PiP and a blue badge as with this disease my mobility isn't going to improve, but get worse over time.

I had a look through the criteria and I dont think i'd get many points, if any on what they have. Is it worth it to be refused during the physical?
