AIBU to be scared to go to GP appointment with breast pain

I am so anxious about this appointment today.

For the last 3-4 months my breasts have both felt really tender like early pregnancy and I get the occasional stabbing pain. One breast feels bruised down one side. There is no way I am pregnant and im 43. I’ve been taking the pill back to back to keep Endo at bay for the last seven years and before that was either pregnant of doing three rounds of IVF.

I stopped taking the pill about six weeks ago and have just finished my first natural period but this has made no difference.

There are no lumps or bumps I can feel and I’m trying to stay away from Dr Google. A friend of the same age but totally different medical history has just had surgery for cancer and I’m just scared.

I will be sensible and go to the appointment today just don’t know what to expect.

I was referred to the breast clinic at the hospital a few months ago for breast pain and tenderness, after an examination and mammogram they confirmed it was ligament damage rather than anything more worrying. The consultant told me that this is the most common cause of breast pain. A bit of a bra overhaul, including sleep bras, has really helped. I know it’s impossible not to worry, but also try not to fear the worst. Good luck. x

Hi i know this is an old thread but been having breast pain for a few weeks been to the nurse who never check me out but assumes its hormones,Then went drs a week later she had a 2min feel & she told me she isnt a breast specialist & refered me to breast clinic,i feel the dr has jumped the gun referering me as it might be a pulled chest muscle as i was helping my parents move,I have never seen this Dr before as i was sent to a neighbouring surgery as my Dr was unavailable,The Dr never asked any questions or where else the pain was,my appointment is in a few days & the pain has eased off alot,It only starts up im moving my arm or lifting things,i dont want to waste there time but im sure iv pulled a muscle & i will feel embarrased going to this clinic if that is what it is,
