Just that really. It must be the worst I have seen for a long time.

Great ad. Did just what an ad should do. Congratulations to whoever made it.

50Running50 · 05/09/2018 08:00

It was ok

Nothing spectacular!!

Was never going to be great using kids in it though

Ifailed · 05/09/2018 08:02

The message I got was we will take a simple and basic thing ( a school production) like retail, and embellish it to a ludicrous and expensive level, hence that's why our stuff costs so much.

Lunaballoon · 05/09/2018 08:06

Loved it too. I was totally hooked, countn’t take my eyes off it, though a bit Hmm that Christmas adverts have already started!

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 05/09/2018 08:10

I used to love their Autumn ad where it was just beautiful panoramic scenes of glens and lakes etc with piano music. No relation to anything they were selling, but I loved it so I thought fondly of JL every year when it came back.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 05/09/2018 08:10

Oh god it was awful. If it takes you best part of four minutes to reiterate a point which pretty much everyone in the UK is aware of anyway, you're not doing it right.
It was overly long namby pamby feelgood bollocks.
And I normally love JL

MissKummerspeck · 05/09/2018 08:12

It’s bloody awful, annoying and boring.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 05/09/2018 08:12

I wasn’t concentrating and had a moment when I thought it was JL’s Christmas advert.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 05/09/2018 08:15

It’s because they are rebranding as Waitrose and partners/John Lewis and partners to highlight the fact their staff are shareholders
The partner staff, who’ve had their bonus payouts cut for the last five years running, might have preferred if they’d spent the millions the advert cost on something else I imagine Smile

DonnaDarko · 05/09/2018 08:16

I loved it, I was singing along

Rebecca36 · 05/09/2018 08:17

Not unreasonable because we all have different tastes but I saw it for the first time last night with my husband and we were both enthralled, quite bowled over.

What is going to disappoint me is that it will be shortened in the future.

Whoever thought that advert up deserves an award in my opinion. It was a wonderful idea, imagine kids doing that at a school concert, what a fun difference!

Can't wait to see it again.

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 05/09/2018 08:17

Long winded and reminded me too much of crappy school plays I have sat through over the years.

bruffin · 05/09/2018 08:25

Loved it

woollyheart · 05/09/2018 08:44

I imagine that it is not just an advert aimed at customers, but also aimed at attracting the sort of employees they want.
