I seem to be a contradiction. Middle class, full time professional working mum. Dc’s have been through childcare very happily. Dd in primary Ds about to start secondary. I like fine food and wine. Wine I drink far too much of even in front of the kids! I am also happy and non-judgemental about eating Mc D’s KFC etc

You sound great.

I don’t really understand the question but thumbs up fro me.

KittyVonCatsworth · 04/09/2018 20:06

From what I see, you’re similar to a lot of people on here. Yeah there’s a few controversial posters on here but horses for courses. Without sounding mean, I don’t think your position is any different or special from a lot of people on here Hmm unless of course you’re getting a sly dig in by insinuating that MNers are a bunch of unrefined, angry, benefit scrounging child neglecters.

Racecardriver · 04/09/2018 20:07

Isn't that x what the c majority of people on here are like?

Flippingheck44 · 04/09/2018 20:08

Ha ha I don’t really understand my own question either! I guess it’s come from seeing so much angst on here about every life choice. Whilst I am by no means perfect I feel that the choices I make are somewhat frowned upon here but actually it is ok to work, have fun and your kids will be ok.

Kitty no no no I never think I am special and I am absolutely the last person to have a dog at anyone who finds themselves on benefits etc

Dig even!

Sorry to disappoint but you sound rather scarily like me Smile

60sname · 04/09/2018 20:11

Yes there are definitely angsters of every stripe here! My chocolate biscuit addiction (and the fact that I have a job) definitely don't set me apart here.

I think there was a greater proportion of SAHMs when it was all fields (and no-one had smartphones to post on the train home).

Getoffthetableplease · 04/09/2018 20:12

Oh, so you're the same as loads and loads of people on here then, that's nice Grin

TwoOddSocks · 04/09/2018 20:14

Erm I think you standard like a fairly typical MNer.

Flippingheck44 · 04/09/2018 20:17

Good I am standard don’t want to be anything more to be honest! Maybe I feel I should be but standard is definitely where I want to be!

AIBU is where you often see the more extreme views, or just things that you can’t get worked up about becoming a drama....I enjoy reading them, and comment on some, but mumsnet is so much more than AIBU (unless you like to spend your days in a froth over parking spaces or the metal charms on school pinafores not being gender neutral enough) And you sound like me too Grin

Lemonysnicketts · 04/09/2018 20:19

Posted too soon ...basically I think the vast majority aren’t AIBU’ers in real life....although I’ve met a couple who from my Facebook feed definitely, definitely are and can get extremely upset about thinks that confuse me Confused

BitchQueen90 · 04/09/2018 20:19

Sounds like most of MN to me. It's quite a middle class site, I've noticed that I'm in the minority not being university educated.

Flippingheck44 · 04/09/2018 20:20

Good glad I sound like some of you. I am in the blimey I love a documentary but excited that Gogglebox is coming back on category!

Alaaya · 04/09/2018 20:21

I am another one who thinks you sound dead normal. In fact, I'm sitting here with a large glass in hand while DH puts DD to bed. I reckon there are more MN like you than not. We just tend to remember the weird 'it's child abuse to feed a kid KFC/my DH earns millions but cheats on me with prostitutes/I just launched a nuclear strike on my next door neighbours over a parking infraction' posts because it is out of the ordinary and more interesting than 'I like rose wine and my kids sometimes have chicken nuggets'.

Lemonysnicketts · 04/09/2018 20:24

^ what Alaaya said. Spot on. That and all the ‘LTB’ when some poor bloke doesn’t meet MN standards and he’s evidently a decent guy but doesn’t always pick his socks up or hear the baby crying, and last weekend he came back from the pub drunk.

Flippingheck44 · 04/09/2018 20:27

Yep yep with you all good to know I am normal and you are right the odd sock or occasional drunken DH is not the end of the world for most of us! I think I need to find my Mumsnet perspective.
