eBay prices! 🤔

Just looking for some autumn/winter jumpers on eBay.
The prices for 'used' jumpers is astronomical....I'm talking about Primark sweaters with a starting price of £13-£15 🤨
Clearly I don't have to buy them (and believe me I won't be) but aibu to think people are just greedy?
What happened to the £0.99 starting bid that most people used to use for cheaper items of clothing?

Yes, but unless you're actually trying to run a business, pricing in any more than the actual costs isn't going to run to more than a few pence for the majority of people.

If you're just flogging unwanted things from your wardrobe, you don't charge for your time! You make the money from the item you originally paid for no long being useful to you.

(For me - few pence on a bulk bought jiffy bag, walk past post office on way to work - few minutes posting the ad and sending time)

I agree with you OP and hardly buy anymore.Actually better quality, more costly brands are probably a better buy secondhand.

I think it's down to the EBay tool when listing, that suggests what your item is worth once you start to list it. I have sold items, began the process of listing, for EBay to 'suggest' a price. Way over what I think my own used items are worth! I never follow it and always list as less. Sellers may just follow the suggestion though or even add to it.

I think it is Ebay's way of making more money on commission for sales; I think it might backfire as the total amount of sales will drop.

Sell some of your old bits and you will make this too. Then whatever you make you can spend on getting some new used stuff.

I bought a whole rail of £3 sale tshirts from Primark and bunged them on at 3.50 + 3.50 postage.

They all sold at auction, the least I got for one was £10.

Original Primark price was £8

People are mad.

Ebays not v good for clothes any more sadly. I get stuff that's Mango/J Conran never been worn for £5 at local charity shop or you can get mega cheap new stuff on wish.com, aliexpress etc

It's because Primark is trendy and on a lot of blogs and in magazines. A lot of the items become a must have. And they sell well on eBay because of Primark not selling online. I know this myself from the past when I've started Primark stuff at 99p and sometimes it's gone for double what i paid for. Some people live 100 miles from a Primark shop...or much more than that if abroad.

It actually does cost £3 - £4.00 to post an item tracked. Sending it by regular post is a risk for the seller.

I was surprised at what people are trying to sell used IKEA bedding for though, £60 for a secondhand duvet set that originally sold new for £25.00.

Change your search terms for the jumpers, you have an option to search by price range, and to specify new or used, it will make it easier to find what you are looking for. You can also search for 'lowest price first' and 'lowest with p&p' by using the drop down at the top of the page.
