I've had a bad back for years been damaged by a urine bag
I've had nerve blocks and Botox
In the last three weeks back has been getting progressively bad again
Saturday I had numb baby finger and beside baby finger
Back been getting worse
Now pins and needles in feet regardless of position
Is it safe to wait until tomorrow
I'm alone as my husband is on business and my son is asleep he is only 2

I'm no Dr but I think the most worrying things to look out for include bladder and bowel control and numbness in the saddle area. If you get those then I think you're supposed to seek immediate medical attention. Otherwise you could always phone 111 to see what they would advise, but not sure they will be able to help much, but may be worth a try

*by the way I'm not trying to say it is safe to wait until tomorrow, I honestly have no idea but you are obviously concerned enough to have posted on here

nhssecretary · 03/09/2018 22:55

Urgh
So I spoke to 111 over an hour ago
The gp just called
They didn't fully understand about the pins and needles
When they did understand they said someone need to see me tonight
But I can't go up as I'm alone with son and my Husband is away
I don't see what they can do tonight as the scanners go off at my hospital over night
They didn't examine me on Saturday when I spoke to the ooh gp
I don't want to wake my son up
I am exhausted and really very over upset

Listen, you've spoken to a medical professional who says you need to be seen tonight, but as it's logistically difficult you're asking non professionals on the internet to tell you it's nothing to worry about. You need to make a call whether you take the GP advice and arrange sth for your son/ take him with you and struggle or sit around and wait for reassurance from a non pro here and wait til tomorrow. You're the only one who can decide if you're worried enough or not, but there's expert advice and internet advice and one is called expert for a reading

Sugarhunnyicedtea · 03/09/2018 23:01

If the gp says you need to be seen tonight then don't take the advice of strangers on the Internet that contradict that.

BeefyCakes · 03/09/2018 23:03

Unless you lose control of your bladder or bowles or lose sensation in your saddle it's not an acute emergency.

They'll be seeing you for pain relief.

You do need to see someone, and you do need to be examined properly.

I've got now 2 herniated disks and nerve damage and I know the pain and the feeling.

If it's so bad you can't stand it then you will need to be seen tonight, you will need pain relief. At its worst I was on morphine.

I think this qualifies as an emergency and your dh needs to come back. You need to see a dr and he needs to support you. Does he know how bad you are?

abbsisspartacus · 03/09/2018 23:03

Will your son not sleep in a pushchair?

recklessruby · 03/09/2018 23:06

I have had this. Mine was a slipped disc. It needed surgery. Losing bladder control is a red flag as your spinal column could be damaged. I was unable to walk at all by the time I did anything about it. Op worked but I have been left with some nerve damage in legs. You need help asap

resipsa · 03/09/2018 23:08

Yes, yes - cauda equina risk - I get the downsides of going in now but they pale in comparison to the risks of not getting checked out. Go in.

Ollivander84 · 03/09/2018 23:12

Beefy - just to say I had full bladder and bowel control and saddle sensation with cauda equina and drove myself to a&e

My symptoms were numbness, pins and needles and a feeling of warm water running down my legs. You need to go
