School uniform- why does everything need a logo?

I only went to buy school uniform the other day, most of it can only be bought from a specific shop. DC are all in primary, this year they've decided to bring in polo shirts with the logo on, making them more expensive than what i usually get and itchy apparently. Along with a new PE uniform, t shirt, shorts, jacket and joggers. Since before they had a different tshirt and shorts the new ones are complusery this year. As well as a PE bag and book bag. They're specific about what trousers, shorts, socks, shoes and coat they wear, probably because they want them to wear the school coat but it isn't complusery. When my oldest started there they didn't have a PE uniform all you needed to buy with a logo on was the school jumper

You have my sympathy. We're just starting reception this week and to be honest we're lucky as the school have been very relaxed about uniform. We only need to buy the logo jumpers and everything else ive picked up from the highstreet. 2 logo jumpers cost us £35 so goodness knows what all yours cost!

Because the school get a cut of the profits from the uniforms with their logo on I'd guess?!

It's shocking. Thankfully DC school doesn't care. I've been able to buy the boys 5 jumpers each from asda for the same price as 1 of the school logo jumpers. I'm dreading high school when they have to wear the logo uniform.

Ive always bought supermarket uniform for my DCs at primary school, but DS1 starts secondary this time and everything (except trousers) can only be bought from the school. It’s really expensive and the sizing is awful on DS but I don’t have the option of going anywhere else. It must be incredibly hard for families on lower incomes to manage when even the PE kit comes to nearly £40 (and that’s not including them needing both PE trainers and football boots)

just get the right colour and be done it with it. if they question you id tell them I wasn't able to afford it all.

I imagine it’s either due to the education cuts and schools trying to get some extra money to make that baxk, or because some children aren’t looking smart enough in what they are currently wearing.

It is because too many people push the boundaries and break the rules surrounding what is acceptable so it makes it easier to say you have to have the logo-ed stuff and then it doesn't do this.

It is to cut dowon on sad faced news articles in local press where people do not compley with rules Grin

Eg - black trousers become back jeggings/skinny jeans etc rather than tailored trousers and then there are sad faced pictures in local papers when they are told they are unacceptbable.

amic I'm pretty sure they could tell the schools part depending on the colours they where wearing.
